Everlasting Good News

“for “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.” And this word is the good news that was preached to you.” 1 Peter 1:24, 25 ESV

To my new [virtual] friends:
I want to welcome you!

I want to explain briefly how I study Bible. I noticed that the followers on this blog is increasing and new viewers are coming daily.

First, I am not preaching Christianity to you. I have no intention of trying to transform and convert you into some beliefs that I’ve found insightful and encouraging. I respect your own beliefs. Besides, I’m no Bible expert, I’m just a simple believer with no standing role in the church nor I belong to any group. I read the Bible daily because the message speaks to my heart and the message somehow sticks to the deepest part of my soul and sustains me daily as I face hardships discovering the new things in front of me.

Second, I just want to share with you the things, ideas and insights daily by reflecting to the message as it applies to the real life. You too can reply and make comments freely if my reflection is out of line.

Everlasting Good News
The world is filled with bad news. Look at the CNN headlines or your favorite newspaper, 90% of the information is not going to benefit you nor encourage you as you move through your daily life. Even at work, check your inbox, mostly it is filled with more burdens than a great message for you to say “I want to go on”.

But.

There is good news for you. Open a page in the Bible and reflect. Let the message soak in your heart and you will feel that something different.
It is an everlasting good news.

Principle: Think Higher

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23, 24 ESV

Note to Self:
Sometimes you are so consumed on doing something to please man. Yes, your daily actions should benefit humanity and not just yourself but having a higher purpose of your actions produces more satisfaction than the ordinary act of pleasing someone.

When you do something to please God, most likely you will end up pleasing other people also.

Think higher.

Principle: Your Starting Point

“And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.” Colossians 1:17, 18 ESV

My counsel to self:

Make your faith as the starting point of everything that you undertake, not the other way around. Don’t say “O God help me” at the end when you are struggling with failure but instead, say “let’s go Lord”, this is our journey together. Pass or fail, I know that I am not alone, I will make it through.

Sometimes you forget that there is a higher being creating and manipulating all the things in the earth.

Don’t ever forget that.

My reason for posting this failure report is to share how Mercedes Benz took care of a car problem and made the customer 100% satisfied.  There was a slight misalignment internally in the cylinder [technical talk] and they went ahead and replaced the cylinder head and the camshaft just to make sure that the damage are contained and repaired back to factory quality.  I asked if the cause of failure was a design problem but the service manager assured me that it was a misalignment or improper assembly that leads to the catastrophic failure. The engine did not die, it was still running and I was able to drive to the MB shop, I  categorized the issue as an ‘Engine Failure’ because if that was a Mars Rover engine, the rover is not coming back to earth or will not be able to perform the desired function in Mars.

I have a 2006 ML350 with 40,000 miles on it with no issue, I am hoping that this 2013 version will be able to last that long.  Only time will tell.

Did I lost my MB confidence? No.

Texas Lemon Law:

How many “reasonable attempts” to repair a defect is the manufacturer allowed?

One way to show the dealer has had a reasonable number of attempts to fix a defect is to pass the following tests. Mileage requirements in the tests do not apply to travel trailers.

The Four Times Test

You pass this test if you have taken your vehicle to the dealership for repair

  • twice for the same problem within the first 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first; and
  • twice more during the 12 months or 12,000 miles following the second repair attempt, and
  • the problem continues to exist.
The Serious Safety Hazard Test

A serious safety hazard is a life-threatening malfunction that substantially impedes your ability to control or operate the vehicle normally, or that creates a substantial risk of fire or explosion. You pass this test if you have taken your vehicle to the dealership two or more times for the repair of a serious safety hazard

  • once during first 12 months or 12,000 miles, and
  • once more during the 12 months (or 12,000 miles) following the first repair attempt, and
  • the problem continues to exist.
The 30 Day Test

If your new vehicle has been out of service for repair due to a defect that substantially impairs the use or market value of the vehicle due to defects covered by the warranty for a total of 30 or more days during the first 24 months or 24,000 miles, and there were at least two repair attempts during the first 12 months or 12000 miles, and the problem still exists. If no loaner vehicle was provided to you by the dealer during this time period, you pass the test.

It is advisable to contact the Lemon Law Section of the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) for more specific information and assistance at (888) 368-4689.

Principle: Foundation of Faith

“But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.” Jude 1:20, 21 ESV

It’s more than our conscience. It’s more than morality. It’s more than the things that we feel it’s the right thing to do. It’s more than our good thoughts and intentions. It’s more than the good things that we think subconsciously for humanity. It’s more than our good training when we were growing up. It’s more than following a command that we must obey such law or ethical code.

The foundation of our faith is the Holy Spirit. We obey and execute whenever He whispers in our heart what to do, what to say or not say, what to pursue, what to study, what to consume, what not to write and what to share.

Beyond Doing Good

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.”

Medicine For The Troubled Mind

“Don’t worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks for what you have. And because you belong to Christ Jesus, God’s peace will stand guard over all your thoughts and feelings. His peace can do this far better than our human minds.”
