Day844; Dream-Suore

DREAM: Time with Suore
I was in an unknown city trying to find my way home.  I asked one a person in the street where I can find the train station and told me that “it is right there – pointing his hand in the direction but you really have to walk around a long way to get to the train station”.  My search of the train station started. I was walking in the crowded and busy street looking for the train station for quite a while and all of a sudden the street ended at the train station counter.  There was only one visible train in the station as viewed from the flight of stairs as I entered the place.  At the entrance of counter, I have to pick “Line A” ?or “Line B”?.  I was confused as to why I have to choose a certain Line to get home when in fact there is only one train available and goes to only one destination.  I reasoned that I should be able to ride the train and gets home no matter what Line I choose since the train only goes in one place.  I later learned that Line A, when you disembark will get you to a different place because there are two places being separated by the railroad tracks and you can’t just walk across the railroad track to go to the other side.  The train is the only way to get to the other side.  Since I was confused of what Line to take, I decided to not take the train ride and started walking around looking for an alternative.  As I was walking down the stairs of the shopping center, I met an old friend – codename-Suore in her habit.  We said hello and exchanged a lot of stories about life and end up spending the whole night together talking about our different experiences.

Author-Billy Graham
ISBN-10: 0849918871
Pages: 320
Chapters: 30

CHAPTER 1 – WELCOME TO THE JOURNEY
I came today to the well and said, O Lord, God of my master Abraham, if You are now causing me to go on my way prosperously Genesis 24:42

You can’t change the past, but you can change the future.
The future does not need to be a copy of the past, nor does God want it to be
Architects draws the plan for a new building, but it still has to be built
God gave us the blueprint for living , but we must know what it is and then put into action
Life is a journey, it has a starting point
Life is a journey, it has an end
Like any other journey, there is also a middle part [we are in the middle of the  journey]

WHAT KIND OF JOURNEY?
1. Disappointment
2. Sorrows
3. Heartache
3. Sickness
4. Fear
5. Guilt
6. Loneliness
7. Despair

CAN LIFE BE ANY DIFFERENT?
With God’s help, you can begin again

3 GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT THE JOURNEY
1. God put you on the journey of life
2. God wants us to join us in this journey
3. God calls us to a new journey

CHANGE TO GOD’s Path-A JOURNEY WITH GOD
REASONS:
1. The old path will not deliver what it promises
2. God’s path will always deliver what He promises
3. It leads us home-eternal home

THE DAY BEFORE:
Yesterday [Saturday], I was doing my own shopping around of tech stuff but was not happy with the outcome. My 16 years old son called me that he was with Britta [my wife] shopping for school supplies. I told him that I will meet them as I am getting closer to their location. After 10 minutes, we met at the parking lot and then went inside a “woman” store. Me and Brent looked at each other and then I signaled him that we need to vacate to a better “manly” venue or else we get bored waiting and also irritate the other shopper. I told him about the a new Half-Price Book Store just recently opened nearby and suddenly in unison told Britta “take your time Mom, we are going to the bookstore”. After a few walking around wondering at the ‘business section’ of the bookstore, I came across the ‘Christian section’. I browsed the used books with my head in horizontal position since the books were arranged in an upright position. It took a while and I keep telling myself “show me a good book to read”. After 5 minutes of looking, there it was – I found a treasure – The Journey by Billy Graham. In the Half-Price bookstore, you can read the entire book in the reading lounge but that was not my intention that evening. I sat down and browsed the chapters and started reading chapter1. Twenty minutes later, I bought “The Journey” and then Brent bought
Fiesta-The Sun also Rises by Ernest Hemingway.

The reason why I mentioned the mechanics of how I got this book is to show an example of how I can change something in the future as mentioned in Chapter1. I was wondering of what else can I do with this material. Then I remember – maybe I can share this information through my journal and others will have an interest on the same journey also. I will not divulge too much information here but will write down the highlights.

To Brittney and Brent – “ Please read when you discover this book in my bookshelf. ”.

To those reading this journal, I want you to read the book yourself, it is very enlightening [I think]. I will be using this book as the source of my daily journal entry for 30 days. I hope that you too will join me in the study.

5 Things-Personal Leadership; Day841; "la ricerca è finita"

Exercise foresight and be on the watch to look [after one another], to see that no one falls back from and fails to secure God’s grace (His unmerited favor and spiritual blessing), in order that no root of resentment (rancor, bitterness, or hatred) shoots forth and causes trouble and bitter torment, and the many become contaminated and defiled by it–  Hebrews 12:15

If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action]. 1 John 1:9

If anyone says, I love God, and hates (detests, abominates) his brother [in Christ], he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, Whom he has not seen. 1 John 4:20

1. Practice foresight [Providence by virtue of planning prudently for the future]
2. Be careful and sensible when making decision
3. Always make sound judgment
4. Admit mistakes
5. Love every human being you come in contact

"la ricerca è finita"

In Your Freedom
I search for You God of strength
I bow to You in my brokenness
No other King could have so humbly come
To save my soul and heal my heart

[pc]
I have nothing more
Than all You offer me
I have nothing else
That’s of worth to me

[c]
I love You Lord
You rescued me
You are all that I want
You’re all I need
I pray to You God of peace
I rest in You my cares released

[b]
In Your freedom I will live
In Your freedom I will live
I offer devotion

10 Things-Life Battlefield Do’s; Day840

Pay attention and always be on your guard [looking out for one another]. If your brother sins (misses the mark), solemnly tell him so and reprove him, and if he repents (feels sorry for having sinned), forgive him.4And even if he sins against you seven times in a day, and turns to you seven times and says, I repent [I am sorry], you must forgive him (give up resentment and consider the offense as recalled and annulled). Luke 17:3-4

And Jesus prayed, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. And they divided His garments and distributed them by casting lots for them. Luke 23:34

And become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tenderhearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32

1. Pay attention
2. Be on guard
3. If brother or sister make a mistake, solemnly tell and reprove [solemnly-in a grave and sedate manner]
4. Forgive infinitely [without bounds]
5. Delete resentment [resentment is a feeling of deep and bitter anger and ill-will, get rid of it]
6. Forgive as Jesus forgave [imitate Christ habit of forgiving, “they do not know what they are doing’]
7. Be useful to one another
8. Be helpful to one another
9. Be compassionate to one another
10. Be forgiving to one another

Forgiveness as First/Last Option; Day839

For if you forgive people their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment], your heavenly Father will also forgive you.15But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses. Matthew 6:14-15

Then Peter came up to Him and said, Lord, how many times may my brother sin against me and I forgive him and let it go? [As many as] up to seven times?22Jesus answered him, I tell you, not up to seven times, but seventy times seven! Matthew 18:21-22

So he got up and came to his [own] father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was moved with pity and tenderness [for him]; and he ran and embraced him and kissed him [fervently]. Luke 15:20

Forgiveness Comes Before Worship; Day838

To cast lots puts an end to disputes and decides between powerful contenders. Proverbs 18:18

Who is a God like You, Who forgives iniquity and passes over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He retains not His anger forever, because He delights in mercy and loving-kindness.19He will again have compassion on us; He will subdue and tread underfoot our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. Micah 7:18-19

So if when you are offering your gift at the altar you there remember that your brother has any [grievance] against you,24Leave your gift at the altar and go. First make peace with your brother, and then come back and present your gift. Matthew 5:23-24

lot- From an unused root meaning to be rough (as stone); properly a pebble, that is, a lot (small stones being used for that purpose); figuratively a portion or destiny (as if determined by lot): – lot.

Anything (as a die, pebble, ball, or slip of paper) used in determining a question by chance, or without man’s choice or will; as, to cast or draw lots

1. Cast lots to settle dispute [use chance to settle dispute]
2. God forgives us through our repentance and then we cast all our sins [in this order]
3. Forgiving someone comes before worship

Hidden Strength; Day829; Dream

But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me! 2 Corinthians 12:9

Do nothing from factional motives [through contentiousness, strife, selfishness, or for unworthy ends] or prompted by conceit and empty arrogance. Instead, in the true spirit of humility (lowliness of mind) let each regard the others as better than and superior to himself [thinking more highly of one another than you do of yourselves].4Let each of you esteem and look upon and be concerned for not [merely] his own interests, but also each for the interests of others.5Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:] Philippians 2:3-5

Likewise, you who are younger and of lesser rank, be subject to the elders (the ministers and spiritual guides of the church)–[giving them due respect and yielding to their counsel]. Clothe (apron) yourselves, all of you, with humility [as the garb of a servant, so that its covering cannot possibly be stripped from you, with freedom from pride and arrogance] toward one another. For God sets Himself against the proud (the insolent, the overbearing, the disdainful, the presumptuous, the boastful)–[and He opposes, frustrates, and defeats them], but gives grace (favor, blessing) to the humble. 6Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you,7Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. 1 Peter 5:5-7

1, Grace is enough.
2. When we are weak, we are stronger
3. Submit to authority or the person older or above you.
4. Negative consequences of being proud.
4. Give all concerns to Him

Dream: Transporting a blue vehicle from Cebu to Leyte
“I was transporting a blue vehicle on board a ferry from Cebu to Leyte.  The vehicle was loaded properly but I rode with the harbor pilot to lead the ferry during the beginning of the trip.  The ferry was supposed to wait for us so that when it reaches the safe zone, we will board – but the ferry just took off without us. A sister was in that ferry and tried calling her but unable to.  I had the key to the vehicle and I was wondering what happened to the vehicle when it arrive in Leyte because they could not move the vehicle. I was left behind in Cebu.”

“Exalt Self” Less; Day828

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled (ranked below others who are honored or rewarded), and he who humbles himself (keeps a modest opinion of himself and behaves accordingly) will be exalted (elevated in rank). Luke 14:11

Not that we are fit (qualified and sufficient in ability) of ourselves to form personal judgments or to claim or count anything as coming from us, but our power and ability and sufficiency are from God 2 Corinthians 3:5

Not that we [have the audacity to] venture to class or [even to] compare ourselves with some who exalt and furnish testimonials for themselves! However, when they measure themselves with themselves and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding and behave unwisely. 2 Corinthians 10:12

Exalt-praise, glorify, of honor; fill with sublime emotion; raise in rank, character, or status
1. Exalt self less.
2. Humility produces exaltation

DO NOT boast of [yourself and] tomorrow, for you know not what a day may bring forth. 2Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips. Proverbs 27:1-2

TAKE CARE not to do your good deeds publicly or before men, in order to be seen by them; otherwise you will have no reward [reserved for and awaiting you] with and from your Father Who is in heaven. Matthew 6:1

1. Do not boast of tomorrow, tomorrow is uncertain [aka don’t celebrate too early]
2. Do not praise yourself, let others do it.
4. Do not do good deeds to be seen before men, do it for God secretly.

16 Life Race Instructions; Day825; Dream

FURTHERMORE, BRETHREN, we beg and admonish you in [virtue of our union with] the Lord Jesus, that [you follow the instructions which] you learned from us about how you ought to walk so as to please and gratify God, as indeed you are doing, [and] that you do so even more and more abundantly [attaining yet greater perfection in living this life] 1 Thessalonians 4:1

I have fought the good (worthy, honorable, and noble) fight, I have finished the race, I have kept (firmly held) the faith 2 Timothy 4:7

THEREFORE THEN, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us,2Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2

1. Instructions in the Bible, follow it.
2. Walk to please and gratify God
3. Objective in life is greater perfection
4. Fight a good fight
5. Finish the race
6. Keep the faith to the end
7. Get rid of unnecessary weight [sin]
8. Run with patient endurance
9. Steady in our lifestyle [righteousness]
10. Always in active persistence
11. Follow the appointed course
12. Look away from distractions [temptations]
13. Keep your eyes in Christ
14. Obtain the prize joyfully [even in suffering]
15. Endure the cross [hardship]
16. Ignore the shame [we are all declared winners in Heaven]

Diligence Plus; Day824

In everything I have pointed out to you [by example] that, by working diligently in this manner, we ought to assist the weak, being mindful of the words of the Lord Jesus, how He Himself said, It is more blessed (makes one happier and more to be envied) to give than to receive. Acts 20:35

Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but [only] one receives the prize? So run [your race] that you may lay hold [of the prize] and make it yours. Corinthians 9:24

Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as [something done] for the Lord and not for men,24  Knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [and not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [real] reward. [The One Whom] you are actually serving [is] the Lord Christ (the Messiah) Colossians 3:23-24

1. Diligence makes us stronger.
2. Diligence allows us to help the weak.
3. Diligence allows us to give more than we receive.
4. Diligence makes us run and finish the race.
5. Diligent work is from the heart, done for God not man.
6. Diligence has a prize at the end.

Do Everything Mightily; Day823; Book-Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol (the place of the dead), where you are going. Ecclesiastes 9:10

And Jesus increased in wisdom (in broad and full understanding) and in stature and years, and in favor with God and man. Luke 2:52

He who is faithful in a very little [thing] is faithful also in much, and he who is dishonest and unjust in a very little [thing] is dishonest and unjust also in much. Luke 16:10

1. Every task in life is given to you, do it with all your might
2. Progression of Wisdom is the result of hard work
3. Start small in Faith and grow from day to day

I’ve finished reading the book Mere Christianity [right click – save as] by C.S. Lewis.  Please find time to read this book.  There were so many new things that I learned from this book.  You will not be disappointed.  I struggled on the first half of the book but then on the second half, ideas became so clear.  At the end, my whole perspective about Christianity has been transformed.

Be Diligent; Day822

He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame. Proverbs 10.5

The appetite of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the appetite of the diligent is abundantly supplied. Proverbs 13:4

He who is loose and slack in his work is brother to him who is a destroyer and he who does not use his endeavors to heal himself is brother to him who commits suicide. Proverbs 18:9

BE DILIGENT
Diligent-Quietly and steadily continuing a task despite any difficulties
Diligence – Conscientiousness in paying proper attention to a task; giving the degree of care required in a given situation; Persevering determination to perform a task; A diligent effort
1. Think ahead through planning
2. Crave to do something
3. Aim to fix problems and not create new ones
4. Start and finish [never give up or stop until the task is finished]

A Christian society is not going to arrive until most of us really want it: and we are not going to want it until we become fully Christian. I may repeat "Do as you would be done by" till I am black in the face, but I cannot really carry it out till I love my neighbor as myself: and I cannot learn to love my neighbor as myself till I learn to love God: and I cannot learn to love God except by learning to obey Him. And so, as I warned you, we are driven on to something more inward —driven on from social matters to religious matters. For the longest way round is the shortest way home. “Mere Christianity” C.S.Lewis

Develop Hope Daily; Day821

But we do [strongly and earnestly] desire for each of you to show the same diligence and sincerity [all the way through] in realizing and enjoying the full assurance and development of [your] hope until the end, Hebrews 6:11

Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery] James 4:8
