Progressive Transformation; Day516

[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope] Phi 3:10

Do Something – The Plan [5P]
”I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father”  John 14:12

1. We have been completely PREPARED to do something great
2. There is a simple PURPOSE behind everything you do
3. What we do sometimes involve PAIN
4. God has provided the POWER to do something
5. Doing something significant will require PASSION that constantly screams “Don’t Quit”

Do Something – 4 Steps
1. Count – Determine the number of people around you that needs help.  Assess them by knowing if they are in pain [emotional, physical, spiritual etc.]
2. Walk – Go to them, get involve.  Be with them.
3. Ask – Don’t hesitate to ask. Use “How Can I Help You?” a lot
4. Love – Fall in love [genuine love] with them. Show them love and affection.  Be real.

Joy of Life; Day512; 2nd Greatest Responsibility

Without having seen Him, you love Him; though you do not [even] now see Him, you believe in Him and exult and thrill with inexpressible and glorious (triumphant, heavenly) joy. 1Pe 1:8

2nd Greatest Responsibility in Life – Love your neighbors as yourself. [Video]
”Withhold not good from those to whom it is due [its rightful owners], when it is in the power of your hand to do it. Do not say to your neighbor, Go, and come again; and tomorrow I will give it–when you have it with you.”  Pro 3:27 – 28

Three Possible Attitudes Toward My Neighbors
1. I can keep my distance
2. I can be curious but uninvolved
3. I can treat them how I want to be treated

How Do I Start Loving My Neighbors
1. I must see what their needs
2. I must sympathize with their pain
3. I must seize the moment to help
4. I must spend whatever it takes.

Celebration Church Notes [with Britta]
Stovall Weems
Hope is…
Epidemic of lost hope today
What is true hope?
When you have a true hope, you can accomplish anything
True hope-you will not be disappointed
Hope-confidence expectation in what is sure
Absolute hope: God is Hope

HOPE IS…
1. Hope is – having confidence-that God will provide

2. Hope is – overcoming odds
– overcoming what is against you
– joy in believing, not just in receiving
– hope against the lost of hope

3. Hope is – picture of a preferred picture
– visualize the future
– when you don’t see the picture of the next day, hope is lost
– picture a better day
– picture of better tomorrow
– God does not talk about where you are; but your potential – a hope of the future

4. Hope is – energy that sustains
– Faith, Hope and Love
– Hope is the catalyst between Faith and Love
– Faith – vertical commitment to God
– Love – horizontal commitment to humanity
– Hope gives you the energy to go on
– Hope is in heaven – heaven is laid out/promised to us
– Person of Hope = Christ

Introspection; Day505

Look well to yourself [to your own personality] and to [your] teaching; persevere in these things [hold to them], for by so doing you will save both yourself and those who hear you. 1Ti 4:16

“Introspection – a reflective looking inward; an examination of one’s own thoughts and feeling “

I did not realize that one of the habits that I developed was the habit of introspection.  It happens most of the time at the beginning of my day or at the end of my day right before I go to sleep or during long distance cycling and swimming.  There are times that I see things that I do or say that does not match to the standard of righteousness and I am able to correct myself the next time.  Why this is important?  There are so many reasons but the most important answer is – it gives us the ability to align ourselves towards righteousness. The other important reason is during the introspection, the Holy Spirit reveals something to us that no other human beings can ever tell.

1. Think/Do nothing else – free yourself from any other thoughts
2. Look at yourself [as if you are looking another person from above]
3. Listen
4. Do it daily

Learn and Practice; Day503

Practice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model your way of living on it, and the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you. Phi 4:9

A few years back, I found/discovered/enlightened something worth sharing. It changes the way I think, the way I handle life and the way I conduct business to others and I wish I’ve known that secret long time ago.  Most people are not born with humility, love, respect, diligence, honesty, gentleness, temperance, leadership. One has to know and learn those traits individually.  The problem of society is – there is not much institution or classroom that teaches those virtues to each and everyone of us.  Mostly, we come across those things accidentally from someone, from a friend, from a stranger or from a co-worker, etc. Most of the time when I meet people who are experiencing difficulties in life, the first thing that comes to my mind is “Hey, read the Bible…all the instructions are there for you to make your life easier”.  But practically, people don’t normally has the desire to do that.  People are not drawn to God unless they’ve undergone an intervention in life that opened their eyes to the truth.

So how can we do our part to make this world a better place?
1. Know the person to model
2. Learn from that person
3. Practice what you learn [Live it]

whatever is true,
whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly,
whatever is just,
whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely and lovable,
whatever is kind and winsome and gracious,
if there is any virtue and excellence,
if there is anything worthy of praise,
think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].

Firm Foundation; Day502

But the firm foundation of (laid by) God stands, sure and unshaken, bearing this seal (inscription): The Lord knows those who are His, and, Let everyone who names [himself by] the name of the Lord give up all iniquity and stand aloof from it. [Num. 16:5; Isa. 26:13.] 2Ti 2:19

0515hours: Last night, I came across a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt "Do one thing every day that scares you." I did not like the term ‘scare’ so I substituted the word with ‘challenge’.  The word challenge is not a stranger to my vocabulary anymore ever since I came across the most dreadful time of my life [close to death].  I think for most of my remaining days I will be spending a life filled with challenges. A few weeks ago, I started a new swimming challenge – a 25 yard [1 pool length @ 1 breath] sub surface swim.  At first, I could only cover 20 yards but the more I practiced every week, the 25 yards became easier.

My 10-day vacation ended yesterday. I had so many vacation days that I have to take 40 hours of vacation so that my PTO will not be forfeited.  I think that was the best vacation ever – I don’t have to travel and I’ve accomplished a lot of household work and other work projects and still able to go out cycling and swimming and running.

About the word today,  simply put.  What is your life based on?  What are your standards? If you are in the middle of a confusing and critical decision making, what will be your choice?  When these questions arises to me, I normally answer – check the Bible and base your decision from what the Word implies to whatever you are asking.

1916hours: Back to work today from a long 10-day forced vacation.  Asked what I did on my vacation?  I replied “working hard” and told them that I am more relaxed here at work that on vacation.  Why? Because during my vacation, I normally have plenty of time to spare riding the bike or swimming or doing household chores.
