Failed Treadmill Stress Test-What’s Next?
I don’t want to sensationalize of what is currently going on with my health but I think writing/sharing about it does more good than bad.  I am perfectly fine [except for a bad heart].  I know that my situation looks serious, but to my eyes, it is just a failed part of the body that needed repair and there are great doctors created just for this purpose.  My cardiologist will perform an Angiogram on July 2, 2010, this Friday at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center at 0800.  [meaning-I will be on vacation for a few days after that, a half full attitude]

For several months, I’ve been trying to understand how I got here at this point of my life, why all these things are happening even after a good workout routine, healthy choice eating [sometimes] better day to day habits.  No, I am not questioning myself or God, I am just curious … of all the healthy and active people out there, why it has to be me.

… this might be the reason why…. “because in weakness, in defeat, in triumph, in agony, in despair, in anguish, in fear, in confusion, in turmoil, in sickness, in misfortune – there is peace.  Without experiencing some of those items, it is really hard to find peace for there are no situation to compare. When life is filled with victory, a human being won’t even know what a defeat feels like.  Amid all of these trials and tribulation, I found comfort, I found balance, I found value in every tick of the clock, I found glory in every heartbeat and I am able to see things in a very different perspective.  Living a life day by day is much more enjoyable and gratifying and I will not trade it for anything else. For that, I am grateful for being the chosen one.

Key Learning:
1. Exercise at a higher intensity – problem was undetected at rest.
2. Exercise daily – so that when you undergo a stress test, you can sustain to a point where the doctors can see a problem
3. Shortness of breath during exercise – don’t ignore it.
4. If you don’t like to exercise – you have a big problem ;-( ) …. do something before it’s too late
5. Accept that life is temporary – be ready to go to the next level
6. Spirit is stronger than the body and mind – in times of trouble, draw your strength beyond the physical world.

What’s Next?
1. Fix cardiac problem
2. Rest for 1 month
3. Cardiac rehab
4. Start over – everything
5. August 2010, Train for Outlaw100 in October 2010
6. August 2010, 1k swim training restart

Migrating Sharepoint 3.0 to Sharepoint 2010
I’ve decided to start the migration process now for Sharepoint 3.0 VM.  The steps are not that hard except that I will be taking down the server offline.  This is a test site but imagine doing this in a production server.
Here’s my plan:
1. Backup the VM to a safe location
2. Upgrade to Windows 2008 x64
3. Upgrade to Sharepoint Foundation

Disaster Recovery Plan:
1. Restore old .vhd file to Hyper-V
2. Restart server

Doing It Right=Blessings; Day552

The steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and He busies Himself with his every step].  Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord grasps his hand in support and upholds him.  I have been young and now am old, yet have I not seen the [uncompromisingly] righteous forsaken or their seed begging bread. All day long they are merciful and deal graciously; they lend, and their offspring are blessed. Psalm 31_23-26

Continuity of Life=Eternity; Day549

It shall be said in that day, Behold our God upon Whom we have waited and hoped, that He might save us! This is the Lord, we have waited for Him; we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.  Isaiah 25:9 During my 1 hour lunch yesterday at work, I ran out of things to ponder when the idea of COL [continuity of life] came to mind.  The other day, I was watching a Discovery channel presentation of “A Day After a Nuclear Attack”.  The show mentioned about the continuity of government explaining all the contingency plans the US government had in place  just in case all the leaders in US government are wiped out.  So that night probably my mind was left with fears and doubt about what needs to be done during the DDay. I have my own DDay that I’ve been preparing for and that probably is the reason why I kept a journal of my daily activities, not so much to brag about what I’ve done but just a representation of what I’ve done in my life on a day to day basis so that at least a few people out there might grab a few nugget to help them get through the maze of life [special mention Britta, Brittney and Brent]. My daily health status is very unclear everyday, so I find ways to maximize my day to the fullest so that when the greatest day comes, there will be a seamless transition.  I don’t fear the DDay nor so worried about it, I am just so excited about what is out there that the Bible keeps mentioning.  No one knows if what the Bible calls “eternity” is really out there but I choose to believe that it does exist [what if it is real?]  Yes, there is a continuity of life, the Bible calls it “eternity”, the life after our physical departure promised with streets of gold and there will be no more tears nor pain and people are constantly rejoicing and singing praises.

Rescue Team; Day546; Dream-Elevator with Roel

Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord grasps his hand in support and upholds him.  Psalm37:24 Sometimes life appears to be all bed of roses.  The wind is blowing in the right direction, doing great at work, finances are coming in at regular intervals, health is in perfect condition, home is a symbol of peace and harmony, friends are always there to say good things, relatives are always with words of encouragement.  But then when you really look at the “bottom line”, you are at the end of the rope and you feel like no one can really help you.  Sometimes, we are placed in a very difficult situation just so we can taste how hard life can sometimes be.  My life were filled with challenges.  I know that I did not get here at this point without difficulties.  But during my times of struggle, there was always a way out, there was always a solution to the problem, there was always a rescue team that holds my hand and say “you are safe now”.   When I listened to a friend who is in a difficult situation, sometimes I ran out of words to say.  Realistically, there is no word of encouragement that can help in this special situation.  And always at the end our our conversation, I been telling myself secretly that one day the rescue team will be there.  I am waiting for that day when the rescue team gives me the report “All accounted for-mission accomplished”.

Dream – Elevator with Roel
Me and Roel [Go] was riding in a blue outdoor elevator suspended by just one cable.  Roel was hanging from the outside and I was comfortably riding inside.  As we reached to the highest floor, the elevator started to descend so fast and I know it was trouble.  The elevator hit the ground and shattered into pieces and I thought I would not make it, I saw Roel smiling after the incident.  Me and Roel started an investigation and we noticed the following:
1. There was only 1 cable holding the elevator
2. There was only 1 motor driving the cable upward mounted on top of the building
3. There was no brake system in the elevator
4. There was no emergency mechanism in place

The Other End of the Line; Day544

For He says, In the time of favor (of an assured welcome) I have listened to and heeded your call, and I have helped you on the day of deliverance (the day of salvation). Behold, now is truly the time for a gracious welcome and acceptance [of you from God]; behold, now is the day of salvation! [Isa. 49:8.]  2 Corinthians 6:2. How can you help someone who is in need of a big push?  How can you encourage someone who is in deep physical, emotional and psychological problems?  How do you counsel someone who does not even know what to do next?  How can you make someone take just one more step to keep going in the journey? You tell him/her that there is a Person at the other end of the line who is listening to every call that we make.  [full chapter]

At His Mercy; Day543

For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great are His mercy and loving-kindness toward those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him.  As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.  As a father loves and pities his children, so the Lord loves and pities those who fear Him [with reverence, worship, and awe]. Psalm 103:11 –13 There are times in our life that we are placed in a difficult situation, so difficult that sometimes it makes us wonder ….. is He real? is He out there watching me every  minute of my life? Yes, it is fine to believe in Him when all the lights are green but when all you have is failure, how will you be able to convince yourself that your beliefs has some roots. When these time comes, you have to start looking for His mercy because sometimes we cannot manipulate every aspect of our life to gain a positive result.  Sometimes we just have to believe that mercy is coming [always coming for that is what He promised]

Have Patience and Endurance; Day524; Dream Auntie Pilar +Bike Swim

For you have need of steadfast patience and endurance, so that you may perform and fully accomplish the will of God, and thus receive and carry away [and enjoy to the full] what is promised.  Hebrews 10:36

Dream 1: Auntie Pilar
Auntie Pilar came up to me and said “Dong,  I got my driver’s license today but I am not going to drive.”
3 Key points:
1. Auntie Pilar is already dead
2. Her face was so young and fresh and glowing
3. She did not drive

Dream 2: Swimming with the bike
I completed a long distance swim in the lake. Later I was on my bike following a long downhill and was so surprised that the bottom of the downhill was the same lake that I’ve been to.  I crashed into the lake and swim with my bike.

People Make Mistakes; Day540; Cardio Checkup

If we say we have no sin [refusing to admit that we are sinners], we delude and lead ourselves astray, and the Truth [which the Gospel presents] is not in us [does not dwell in our hearts]. If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action].  If we say (claim) we have not sinned, we contradict His Word and make Him out to be false and a liar, and His Word is not in us [the divine message of the Gospel is not in our hearts]. 1John 1:8-10

MIT (Most Important Task)
1. Visit Cardiologist-
2. 1K swim at Lake Pflugerville
3.

Cardiologist Checkup
Problem/Symptoms:
1. Left arm/upper chest pain for 4 weeks now.
2. Left thumb and trigger finger tingling/numb
3. Pain goes to pt=8 at Mile3 and goes away at Mile9,
4. No problem on a 1k swim at fast pace, heart and lungs working fine
5. Started May 5th, a day after a long 2.4 Mile swim with paddles [race pace]
6. No big changepoint: same diet–> bagel+slice turkey+latte as breakfast, 1 clif bar+latte for lunch and freestyle dinner.
7. Weight remains at 165lbs, since Day0.

I visited my cardiologist today due to a lingering left arm numbness and upper left chest pain.  The pain is not comparable to an MI symptoms since it will only manifest during a long distance bike ride.  I have to cut short my training ride for now because the pain is just not bearable.  When I’m swimming, there is no pain or numbness in my left arm.  My cardiologist ordered a stress next week to rule out a cardiac problem. [for those who are curious of what happened to me] . My doctor asked me “What do you do when the pain is unbearable?”, my answer, I’d normally go for a 1k swim at the lake or pool, [for some reason, when I am in the water, I am more relaxed].  On the bike when the pain started to bother, I just think that it will go away [of course I am monitoring my heart rate monitor].

To those who really care, I am ok, I am fine,  no need to send encouragement [yet].  The reason why I reveal these personal matter here is for you to be aware that heart disease is real.  I survived a full blown heart attack for a reason, learn from what happened to me.  If it happened to me even if I watched my diet, exercise regularly and stayed healthy all year round, what are the odds that it will happen to you.  So please, for those who are afraid to go to the next life yet, take care of yourself, start eating healthy, start exercising so that whenever you are selected to go through the same ordeal, your body is already prepared.  You don’t need to follow exactly the craziness of my cardio activities, all you need to do is raise your heart rate a little bit.

Got some good news today, Britta and Brittney are on Day002 of their cardio workout at YMCA.  I’m silently tracking their activity…..psst don’t tell them. Britta is trying to get down to under 200lbs.

Learn Then Practice; Day539

Practice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model your way of living on it, and the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you. Philippians 4:9

Phi 4:4  Rejoice in the Lord always [delight, gladden yourselves in Him]; again I say, Rejoice! [Ps. 37:4.]
Phi 4:5  Let all men know and perceive and recognize your unselfishness (your considerateness, your forbearing spirit). The Lord is near [He is coming soon].
Phi 4:6  Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.
Phi 4:7  And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Phi 4:8  For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].

Ignore Outward Conditions; Day531

Mat 5:10  Blessed and happy and enviably fortunate and spiritually prosperous (in the state in which the born-again child of God enjoys and finds satisfaction in God’s favor and salvation, regardless of his outward conditions) are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake (for being and doing right), for theirs is the kingdom of heaven! Matthew 5:10

Infilling/Indwelling of the Holy Spirit; Day528

And Peter answered them, Repent (change your views and purpose to accept the will of God in your inner selves instead of rejecting it) and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of and release from your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  For the promise [of the Holy Spirit] is to and for you and your children, and to and for all that are far away, [even] to and for as many as the Lord our God invites and bids to come to Himself. Be Satisfied At Present; Day526

Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] [Josh. 1:5.]  Hebrews 13:5

Affliction+Hardship=Patience/Endurance; Day525

Moreover [let us also be full of joy now!] let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance. And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character (approved faith and tried integrity). And character [of this sort] produces [the habit of] joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation.  Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us.  Romans 5:3-5
