Seagate Acronis Backup Procedure (Windows Version) [documentation] [download]
1. Connect USB drive to server
2. Run Seagate Disk Wizard
3. Click Image Backup/Image Restore
4. Click Image Backup
5. Welcome screen: -> Click next
6. Select My Computer –>Click next
7. Partition Selection: Select Disk1 (XP_NI_OS) –>Click next
8. Information: Click OK
9. Image Backup Location: Select USB Drive –> c:\Acronis\pe1550_xp_NI_c.tib
10. Mode: Select Create a new full image backup
11. Options: Use default options
12. Comments: Click next
13. Wizard: Click Proceed
14. Wait –> END

Seagate Acronis Restore Procedure (Bootable CD version)
1. Connect USB drive
2. Insert Acronis CD –> Reboot
3. Boot to Acronis CD
4. Click True Image Echo Workstation (Full version)
5. Select recovery –> Click next
6. Backup Archive Location: Locate Acronis backup created previously (has a .tib extension) –>Click next
7. Restore Type: Select Restore Discs or partitions
8. Partition/Discs to restore: Select Disk 1 c:\drive and check MBR/Track0 –>Click next
9. NT Signature: Select Generate new NT Signature –>Click next
10. Restore hard Disk Drive Location: (Destination drive) Select Disc0 –> Click next
11. Non Empty Destination Drive: Select Yes, I want to delete all partition –>Click next
12. Next Selection: Select No, I do not want to restore another partition –>Click next
13. Restore Options: Uncheck All –> Click Next
14. Wizard: Click Proceed to start restore
15. Wait –> END

PE2850 Backup Procedure (Windows Server Backup) [MS version]
1. Connect USB Drive
2. Start-Programs->Administrative Tools-> Windows Server Backup
3. Click Backup Once
4. Backup Options: Diff Options->Click Next->Custom->Click Next
5. Select W2008 (c:) + check “enable system recovery” –> Click Next
6. Destination: –>Select Local Drive->Select USB Hard Drive
7. Select VSS Copy
8. Click Backup
9. Wait –> END

PE2850 Recovery Procedure:
1. Connect USB Drive (not eSata, will not work, only USB)
2. Boot to SBS2008 Recovery CD (for x64 OS)
3. Install Windows: Click Next
4. Click repair your computer
5. System Recovery Option: Click Next
6. Select Windows Complete PC Restore –>Scanning
7. Use latest available backup –>Click Next
8. Check –> Format and Repartition Disks –>Click Next
9. Confirm Check Box –> Click Next
10. Restore in progress
11. Wait –> END

10-Day Vacation Summary
– Bought a priceless gift for my wife
– Visited Nestor and Mary, they are doing fine.  Karaoke concert for 60 minutes, just them.
– Cloned my Dell E6400 notebook drive
– Got my blood drawn for the upcoming 1 year checkup with Dr. Wozniak (cardiologist)
– Completed Windows Media Streaming Project (all songs are now one-click away from anywhere in the world) [Listen Here]
– Completed Brent’s Ortho exam, he is now ready for braces on Feb 3rd, 2010 ($1085, initial cost)
– Completed building the Labview Test Lab [pictures]
– Completed vdomain log file purge, Exchange 2007 not deleting log files.
– Completed/Tested Free Acronis Image software
– Completed/Tested Windows 2008 Server Backup Complete PC Restore (bare metal recovery-dead drive)
– Learned that Acronis does not see Dynamic Disks, so it is not advisable to use dynamic for OS drives.
– Learned that my \\pe2850x64 Windows 2008 Server cannot recover from a bootable DVD- FIX: Dual x86 and x64 DVD defaults to x86. Had to download an SBS2008 ISO to make it work
– Completed Fence Project. had to pay $1675, I could have done it myself but there was no point of hard work and besides the economy needs to be stimulated.  3 guys from Dave’s Fence were happy. [pictures]
– Completed reimaging all computers in the house: M1330, i3700, i4000, M2NPV-VM, PE400SC, Hyper-V, PE2850, PE1550 and duplicated to USB drive and placed it in a safe.
– Learned how to configure SQL2005 Reporting Service [documentation]
– Completed full yard maintenance [pictures]
– Completed PE2850x64 migration to PE2850x86 server. (these two servers are cloned, one is a production server and the other is for testing. [cloned servers]
– Wrote documentation of everything I did for the past 10 days

CONCLUSION: Nice to have a vacation without the hassle of travel.
