Phase 1.0 HSMM-MESH WRT54G Firmware Installation
1. Go to the HSMM-Mesh Website http://hsmm-mesh.org/
2. Go to the User Documentation Link, http://hsmm-mesh.org/documentation.html [Read and Understand]
3. Go to Firmware Installation instruction http://hsmm-mesh.org/documentation/68-firmware-installation-instructions.html
4. Download HSMM-Mesh Firmware corresponding to WRT45G version that you have
5. Set Network Adapter to 10MBps Half duplex [very important or else the upgrade will faile
6. Open IE http://192.168.1.1, password=admin
7. Click Administration-Firmware Upgrade-Browse To-Select HSMM-mesh.bin [firmware]
8. Click Upgrade and wait
9. Upgrade Successful
10. Unplug DC poswer of router and then plug back in
11. Power LEB blinking… then stop blinking… then DMZ LED goes out [this is a sign of a successful upgrade]
12. Power LED steady On=OK, WLAN LED On=OK
13. HSMM-Mesh firrware upgrade complete
14. Configure Mesh Node-Go to http://172.27.0.1:8080
15. Click Setup, user=root, password=hsmm [change the password ASAP]
16. Enter Node Name=KC5OZQ-Base
17. Enter Password-Psa
18. End

Phase 2.0 HSMM-Mesh AP Setup [If converting HSMM-Mesh Firmware to WAP]
1. Assuming the Router is on the Mesh Node Type
2. Open IE, http://172.27.0.1:8080
3. Click Setup
4. Set Node Type: Mesh Access Point
IP=172.27.0.2
Mask=255.255.255.0
GW=172.27.0.1

5. Click Save Changes.

Phase 3.0 HSMM-Mesh AP Setup [If converting DD-WRT frimware to WAP]
1. Assumming that DD-WRT is already installed in the router
2. Hard reset the router to set DD-WRT to default setting
3. Connect to http://192.168.1.1 [router must be disconnected from the network
4. Open Setup-Basic Setup
WAN Type: Disabled
Local IP: 172.27.0.2
Mask: 255.255.255.0
DHCP Server: Disabled
NTP Client: Disabled
5. Open Setup Advanced Routing, Set Operating Mode: Router
6. Open Wireless Basic Settings, Wireless Network Name SSID: KC5OZq-DDWRT-AP
7. Open Wireless Security, Select WEP
8. Open Services-Services Tab
DNSMasq: Disabled
ttraff Daemon: Diabled
9. Open Security Firewall
Uncheck All except filter Multicast
SPI: Diabled
10. Open Administration-Managment
Info Site password: Enable
Routing: Disabled

11. Click Apply Settings
12. Connect WAP Router to Mesh Network
KC5OZQ-DDWRT-AP Port1 to KC5OZQ-Node1 to Port 1
13. Connect Mesh to Internet
KC5OZQ-Node1 WAN Port to Router Port1

Revert Mesh AP Type running on HSMM MEsh Firmware
1. Set IP Address of pc to 172.27.0.3/255.255.255.0
2. Open IE: http://172.27.0.2:8080
3. Select Setup
4. Set Node Type:
Mesh Node
IP: 172.27.0.1
Mask: 255.255.255.0
Check DHSC Server

Converting a WRT54G v6 from VxWorks to DD-WRT
1. Set PC network card LAN to 10MBps-half Duplexe
2. Download

3. Open 2 command prompt [execute 1 then 2 immediately]

1. Open Device Manager
2. Select Network Adapters-Select LAN Card
3. Right Click-Lan Card
4. Selet Properties-Advanced
5. Select Property-Link Speed & Duplex
6. Select Value-10Mbps Half Duplex
