Paul wrote these long time ago but the truth of these things when applied to the fullest extent guarantees a well established life of joy and peace.  This looks like a checklist on how to become the “best person” in the world or the “best leader” or the “best father” or the “best mother” or the “best employee” or maybe just a “best simple servant”.

1. whatever is true, Consistent with fact or reality; not false
2. whatever is worthy of reverence, Regard with feelings of respect and reverence; consider hallowed, exalted or be in awe of
3. whatever is honorable, Not disposed to cheat or defraud; not deceptive or fraudulent 
4. whatever is seemly, decent
5. whatever is just, Indicating exactness or preciseness
6. whatever is pure, Free of extraneous elements of any kind
7. whatever is lovely, Appealing to the emotions as well as the eye
8. whatever is lovable, Having characteristics that attract love or affection
9. whatever is kind, A category of things distinguished by some common characteristic or quality
10. whatever is winsome, Charming in a childlike or naive way
11. whatever is gracious, Characterized by charm, good taste, and generosity of spirit
12. if there is virtue, The quality of doing what is right and avoiding what is wrong
13. if there is excellence,  possessing good qualities in high degree
14 if there is anything worthy of praise, Express approval of
