        • While it is possible to achieve near-term goals by setting targets,long-term goals typically require a less focused and more fl exibledecision-making process: a fl ashlight rather than laser beam.

          A lotwill happen over the course of several months, to say nothing of yearsor decades. For one thing, over time you will be distracted by moreimmediate and therefore more apparently urgent needs. Additionally,short-term goals will come and go, constantly sh

          This is why enjoying the process is somuch more important than achieving specifi c goals in life and whysome people prefer to make big decisions by intuitive thought processesrather than analytical ones

            By setting objectives and letting thembecome cognitive habits, you turn a constantly deliberate decisionsituation into an unconscious decision situation

            If you are having trouble identifying your objectives, start with a compellingtarget, something you want, and then ask yourself what it isabout that target that is consistent with your current values. If whatyou value doesnt align with the target, then eit
