Principle: Love God and Man

“Jesus answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and most important command. And the second command is like the first: ‘Love your neighbor the same as you love yourself.’” Matthew 22:37-39 ERV

1. Love God
2. Love your neighbor
… with “all” your heart.

One time, I was consulted in a level 5 marital situation (infidelity) and was asked for an honest advice. The offending spouse wanted forgiveness and household/life reentry. I was so puzzled at that time what to say but this verse influenced my advice.

Yesterday, the couple came to my house to drop off some food that they cook. The Holy Spirit whispered to my heart as I watched them drove away …. see the fruits of that advice you gave 5 years ago?

The word “all” means “all people”. Sometimes this can be a very difficult thing for other people. How can you love a person who inflicted so much pain on us? How can I?

But read the verse over and over. It does not imply “some”.
