DIY Personality Test +Mindmap: Book-Enneagram Personality Types

In December of 2013, I went to the local Half Price bookstore in Round Rock to find an investing book to read.  That day, I came home with 3 books:  [all at half price, hey I am frugal investor]
1. 25 Habits of Highly Successful Investors Mindmap-BookSummary-25HabitsOfHighlySuccessfulInvestors
2. The Warren  Buffett Way Mindmap-BookSummary-TheWarrenBuffetWay
3. Personality Types

I finished the first 2 books quickly and summarized my notes and then executed it on my investment portfolio.  I’ve edited my portfolio with the following simple strategy:
1. Indexing S&P and Russell only
2. Minimize # of investment holdings
3. Healthcare and IT
4. Prospect Theory Application
5. Myopic Loss Aversion  Application

The 3rd book was just sitting in my bookshelf unread because it was 544 pages and the first few chapters  were not really interesting.  But then as I continue on reading the #3 book one chapter per day, I realized that it was not that boring at all. After reading the #3 book, I wanted to know my “type” of personality .  I was confused at first because the description of each type seems similar to me.  After a few google search,  I then found an Excel spreadsheet which automates the personality type categorizing, I just have to answer 180 questions.  I edited the spreadsheet and added a few items to make it more of a “one stop” document.

Most of you probably will not read the 544 pages.  If you have the opportunity, please get one yourself and read the full details of each personality types.  For those who cannot and do not have the resources, the spreadsheet mentioned below will give you the path to know your personality types.  There are 180 questions that you have to answer honestly [self-assessment], once you completed answering the questions, go the test results tab and identify your Type #.  Once you know your type #, go to the tab #1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and study the personality description.

Enneagram Test.xls

Step By Step:
1. Save the Excel Spreadsheet to computer.
2. Read instructions.
3. Read questions.
4. Place answer in RATING column.
5. Go to Test Results.
6. Read the description of your personality, Tab 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
7. Save spreadsheet.
8. Study your Personality Type

Next Step:

Work on getting to the “Healthy” side of your personality. [this is a lifetime of introspection and personal adjustments that you have to do everyday.  I repeat, “ lifetime of change” and not overnight.
