He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things? Rom 8:32
I’ve mentioned this before that life is sweeter when you know that your time here on earth is very limited. I don’t look forward more than a day in my life nowadays. When I wake up in the morning, it is a celebration of life filled with excitement of what else in my life there is to do. I wish I can share that to everyone – the joy of abundant life. When people think that they have plenty of time, they think that they have another chance on the next day or the next week or the next year. Life is indeed sweeter when you know that the end is near. My left chest still sometimes show pain and when that happens, I know that there is something in there that is about to become a tragedy. Nothing I can do for now except to live life to the full. Take one day at a time and do the best I can for the day and then on the next day, look for another day to come. What an exciting life!

Blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) is the man who reverently and worshipfully fears [the Lord] at all times [regardless of circumstances], but he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity. Pro 28:14
Heart Hardiness – Just Being Stubborn [unreasonably unyielding]
During my early walk with Christ, I noticed the pattern of stubbornness in me – meaning when the Bible says so [a command] I disobeyed; sometimes I put my feet right on the line or sometimes cross over it. Some people call it “trying to” but simply put – it is by definition called ‘disobedience’. In the military term, it is called “disobeying a direct order”. When we start with a new life in Christ, we are given the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit dwells in us and give us an internal direction of what to do or say or act. Some people call it conscience telling us to do the right thing or say the right word [it is the Holy Spirit directing us in every way]. When we are told to do something that is right, our best choice is obedience.
Some examples of commands that must be followed:
1. Love God
2. Love your neighbor
3. Read/Understand/Do the Bible
4. Do not get drunk with wine
5. Tame your tongue – Say nice words
6. Have self-control
7. Have perseverance
8. Endure hardship
9. Have patience
10. Pray
11. Meditate on the Word
12. Listen to God when He whispers into your heart
13. Rejoice in hard situation [your patience is being trained]
14. Spend your time wisely
There a secret! We don’t have to memorize the list mentioned above. The Holy Spirit will let us know.

I would like to remind myself from time to time that life is too short. In 2 days, It will be 3 years since my heart attack. I am counting the days because I know that my time is limited. It can happen today or tomorrow and who knows that I will not have the time to write something about what happened. To my wife Britta, daughter Brittney and son Brent, be it all known unto you that I did my best to keep myself in perfect health; to finish what I had started to do – build my family the best I can.
There are two numbers that I am currently tracking:
1. Stent#1-December 22, 2008 [1093 days]
2. Stent#2-July 2, 2010 [536 days]
To those who don’t know me, here’s a quick summary of the dreadful event including my journal entry in 2008. I don’t want to scare anyone about my heart attack. My reason of exposing it here is to raise awareness of the danger of a heart condition and how it can dramatically change your life. Heart attack is still the #1 killer in the US. [I did not know that fact until I had mine]. Now you know… so that you too can try to make dramatic changes to your lifestyle, diet, exercise and life in general.
At the age of 42 [Dec of 2008], I had my full blown heart attack [100% occlusion at LAD-Left Anterior Descending]. Nothing changed much except that I am taking medication now and had been very careful not to swim in really cold water. I am a little careful on my diet also but not so fanatically obedient to the cardiac diet laid out my nutritionist. My cardiologist was not giving me a perfect explanation why my LAD was 100% blocked. Many reasons came up – genetics, diet, age, and mine – a cold water swim. I am a very active person, I swim, bike and occasionally run. Most of my activities every week is centered in distance cycling and swimming. I had always been active since childhood [cardiac wise]. When I was in the US Army, I can finish my 2-mile run in under 16 minutes. Since I got out from the service in 1996, I’ve switch to cycling and then later in 2005, I included swimming in my training then running. In short, I am not the typical high risk factor guy that you can pick in the line and say that I will have a cardiac problem down the road. I said to myself – no way to cardiac problem – since I do 100-mile distance ride every year and I know that my body is in perfect condition and in fact, 2 months before the incident, I just did the Annual Outlaw 100Mile Bike Ride and did my best time. How so that in the following 2 months, my heart says that it is blocked and no blood flow. What happened in Dec of 2008 will remain a mystery to me. Was it a life changing event meant to happen? Was it a message to the rest of the world that there are risks out there even if you kept your body in perfect shape? No one knows.
Today, I just finished a 2.4mile swim at Clay Madsen Pool. The swim is a non-stop race pace event that I intentionally schedule every Tuesday. I’ve added a 25-yard sub surface swim [meaning at 25-yard under water swim – no breath at all]. I had been improving since I started doing this and can comfortably reach the other end of the pool with just 0 breath.
In summary, I think I am doing well as a cardiac patient, 1093 days and counting…
Below are my journal entry in 2008

Jesus answered him, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see (know, be acquainted with, and experience) the kingdom of God. Joh 3:3
If someone asks me how my new life all started? My answer is when I gave my life to Christ. From that time on, it seems like everything fall into the right places. Opportunities, life, relationship, marriage, work and dreams just fits like a huge jigsaw puzzle and I did not even do anything special. That was 1989 and I can still feel/experience how it works even until now. How I wish I have a magic wand to touch a person to take the step – but I don’t. The entry to the Kingdom is voluntary – your free will. We surrender to Him and he takes us as we are. If you are curious or maybe tired of your life, try taking the Step1 process and see the goodness of life overwhelms you.

Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it]. But now if Christ (the Messiah) is preached as raised from the dead, how is it that some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not risen; And if Christ has not risen, then our preaching is in vain [it amounts to nothing] and your faith is devoid of truth and is fruitless (without effect, empty, imaginary, and unfounded). We are even discovered to be misrepresenting God, for we testified of Him that He raised Christ, Whom He did not raise in case it is true that the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised; And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is mere delusion [futile, fruitless], and you are still in your sins [under the control and penalty of sin]; And further, those who have died in [spiritual fellowship and union with] Christ have perished (are lost)! If we who are [abiding] in Christ have hope only in this life and that is all, then we are of all people most miserable and to be pitied. But the fact is that Christ (the Messiah) has been raised from the dead, and He became the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep [in death]. For since [it was] through a man that death [came into the world, it is] also through a Man that the resurrection of the dead [has come].
For just as [because of their union of nature] in Adam all people die, so also [by virtue of their union of nature] shall all in Christ be made alive. 1Co 15:12 -22

Do Something – The Plan [5P]
”I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father” John 14:12
1. We have been completely PREPARED to do something great
2. There is a simple PURPOSE behind everything you do
3. What we do sometimes involve PAIN
4. God has provided the POWER to do something
5. Doing something significant will require PASSION that constantly screams “Don’t Quit”
Do Something – 4 Steps
1. Count – Determine the number of people around you that needs help. Assess them by knowing if they are in pain [emotional, physical, spiritual etc.]
2. Walk – Go to them, get involve. Be with them.
3. Ask – Don’t hesitate to ask. Use “How Can I Help You?” a lot
4. Love – Fall in love [genuine love] with them. Show them love and affection. Be real.

2nd Greatest Responsibility in Life – Love your neighbors as yourself. [Video]
”Withhold not good from those to whom it is due [its rightful owners], when it is in the power of your hand to do it. Do not say to your neighbor, Go, and come again; and tomorrow I will give it–when you have it with you.” Pro 3:27 – 28
Three Possible Attitudes Toward My Neighbors
1. I can keep my distance
2. I can be curious but uninvolved
3. I can treat them how I want to be treated
How Do I Start Loving My Neighbors
1. I must see what their needs
2. I must sympathize with their pain

Look well to yourself [to your own personality] and to [your] teaching; persevere in these things [hold to them], for by so doing you will save both yourself and those who hear you. 1Ti 4:16
“Introspection – a reflective looking inward; an examination of one’s own thoughts and feeling “
I did not realize that one of the habits that I developed was the habit of introspection. It happens most of the time at the beginning of my day or at the end of my day right before I go to sleep or during long distance cycling and swimming. There are times that I see things that I do or say that does not match to the standard of righteousness and I am able to correct myself the next time. Why this is important? There are so many reasons but the most important answer is – it gives us the ability to align ourselves towards righteousness. The other important reason is during the introspection, the Holy Spirit reveals something to us that no other human beings can ever tell.
1. Think/Do nothing else – free yourself from any other thoughts
2. Look at yourself [as if you are looking another person from above]
3. Listen
4. Do it daily

Practice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model your way of living on it, and the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you. Phi 4:9
A few years back, I found/discovered/enlightened something worth sharing. It changes the way I think, the way I handle life and the way I conduct business to others and I wish I’ve known that secret long time ago. Most people are not born with humility, love, respect, diligence, honesty, gentleness, temperance, leadership. One has to know and learn those traits individually. The problem of society is – there is not much institution or classroom that teaches those virtues to each and everyone of us. Mostly, we come across those things accidentally from someone, from a friend, from a stranger or from a co-worker, etc. Most of the time when I meet people who are experiencing difficulties in life, the first thing that comes to my mind is “Hey, read the Bible…all the instructions are there for you to make your life easier”. But practically, people don’t normally has the desire to do that. People are not drawn to God unless they’ve undergone an intervention in life that opened their eyes to the truth.
So how can we do our part to make this world a better place?
1. Know the person to model
2. Learn from that person
3. Practice what you learn [Live it]
whatever is true,
whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly,
whatever is just,
whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely and lovable,
whatever is kind and winsome and gracious,
if there is any virtue and excellence,
if there is anything worthy of praise,
think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].

But the firm foundation of (laid by) God stands, sure and unshaken, bearing this seal (inscription): The Lord knows those who are His, and, Let everyone who names [himself by] the name of the Lord give up all iniquity and stand aloof from it. [Num. 16:5; Isa. 26:13.] 2Ti 2:19
0515hours: Last night, I came across a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt "Do one thing every day that scares you." I did not like the term ‘scare’ so I substituted the word with ‘challenge’. The word challenge is not a stranger to my vocabulary anymore ever since I came across the most dreadful time of my life [close to death]. I think for most of my remaining days I will be spending a life filled with challenges. A few weeks ago, I started a new swimming challenge – a 25 yard [1 pool length @ 1 breath] sub surface swim. At first, I could only cover 20 yards but the more I practiced every week, the 25 yards became easier.
My 10-day vacation ended yesterday. I had so many vacation days that I have to take 40 hours of vacation so that my PTO will not be forfeited. I think that was the best vacation ever – I don’t have to travel and I’ve accomplished a lot of household work and other work projects and still able to go out cycling and swimming and running.
About the word today, simply put. What is your life based on? What are your standards? If you are in the middle of a confusing and critical decision making, what will be your choice? When these questions arises to me, I normally answer – check the Bible and base your decision from what the Word implies to whatever you are asking.
1916hours: Back to work today from a long 10-day forced vacation. Asked what I did on my vacation? I replied “working hard” and told them that I am more relaxed here at work that on vacation. Why? Because during my vacation, I normally have plenty of time to spare riding the bike or swimming or doing household chores.

Jon 4:6 And the Lord God made a vine come up over Jonah to give him shade over his head. And Jonah was very glad because of the vine.
Jon 4:7 But early on the morning after, God made ready a worm for the destruction of the vine, and it became dry and dead.
Jon 4:8 Then when the sun came up, God sent a burning east wind: and so great was the heat of the sun on his head that Jonah was overcome, and, requesting death for himself, said, Death is better for me than life.
Jon 4:9 And the Lord said to Jonah, Have you any right to be angry about the vine? And he said, I have a right to be truly angry.
Jon 4:10 And the Lord said, You had pity on the vine, for which you did no work and for the growth of which you were not responsible; which came up in a night and came to an end in a night;
Jon 4:11 And am I not to have mercy on Nineveh, that great town, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand persons without the power of judging between right and left, as well as much cattle?

For we hold that a man is justified and made upright by faith independent of and distinctly apart from good deeds (works of the Law). [The observance of the Law has nothing to do with justification.] Rom 3:28

Great to see you here. I know that virtual connection is not the same as the real one but will take the opportunity to reconnect. So many gaps to fill in. I have not seen or heard from you for a very very long time. Don’t be a stranger…. Someone is arranging our path in such a special way. It is great to know about your faith. Be faithful until the end. Feed yourself everyday. Me and Britta are still the same [happy as can be]. Kids are grown up now and mostly self sustaining. Brittney is now in college and Brent is in high school. Share me your story…

Moreover [let us also be full of joy now!] let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance. And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character (approved faith and tried integrity). And character [of this sort] produces [the habit of] joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation. Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us. Rom 5:3 – 5

He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, who despises gain from fraud and from oppression, who shakes his hand free from the taking of bribes, who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed and shuts his eyes to avoid looking upon evil. [Such a man] will dwell on the heights; his place of defense will be the fortresses of rocks; his bread will be given him; water for him will be sure. Isa 33:15 – 16

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out–
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit–
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all people.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;and listen to all
even to the dull and ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive people, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself to others you will become vain and bitter;
there will always be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery.
But let not this blind you to the virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have the right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
Max Ehrman

In order that you may not grow disinterested and become [spiritual] sluggards, but imitators, behaving as do those who through faith (by their leaning of the entire personality on God in Christ in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness) and by practice of patient endurance and waiting are [now] inheriting the promises.
