Here Now

3B: Almost 50 years had passed and I have not made a mark in your lives. Most people can explain the basic knowledge about physics, mathematics, psychology, biology, cell formation, cell growth, anatomy, medical mysteries, neuroscience, computing, the weather, emotions, relationship dynamics etc. We can easily gain knowledge when such topics are being studied though books, research and lectures.  But there is one thing in life that I am having a hard time explaining to people – the presence of God.   Maybe this song can help you do that. You can find the playlist also under HillsongRA.

Skies spin their dance
Within Your breath
Time runs it’s race
Within Your hand

And my mind runs wild
To comprehend
What no mind on earth
Could understand

Your ways are higher
Your thoughts are wilder
Love came like madness
Poured out in blood – wash romance
It makes no sense but this is grace
And I know You’re with me in this place

Here now
All I know is I know that You are
Here now
Still my heart
Let Your voice be all I hear now
Spirit breathe
Like the wind come have Your way
Cause I know You’re in this place

Faith makes a fool
Of what makes sense
But grace found my heart
Where logic ends

When justice called
For all my debts
The Friend of sinners
Came instead

Your ways are higher
Your thoughts are wilder
Love came like madness
Poured out in blood – wash romance
It makes no sense but this is grace
And I know You’re with me in this place

Here now
All I know is I know that You are
Here now
Still my heart
Let Your voice be all I hear now
Spirit breathe
Like the wind come have Your way

Cause I know that You are here now
Heart and soul
God I know that You are here now
Fix my eyes
On the things that I can’t see now
And all I see
Is the glory of Your Name

Recklessly Wasteful

While we are still alive, there are always temptations lurking us in every situation.  Although we made a promise to be obedient and faithful, we sometimes crosses the fine line once in a while.  When we do, we feel guilt and shame which normally adds distance to our relationship with Christ. When we feel that we are in violation of our promise,  we sometimes forget that there are no other requirements that is needed to get back to His Kingdom other than repentance and a simple statement – “Father, Here I Am Again, Take me back.” A friend once told me that Christianity is not practical anymore and not relevant at the present time.  One thing that I can’t explain – peace of mind.  When I sit in a corner with a troubled mind and I began to think of God talking to me, I feel empowerment and a strength to go on.  The problem remains “unsolved” but my powerlessness is gone.

To a special friend [h], I have no other intentions but to share with you the hope of Christ.  Maybe one day, please allow me to share something different.

"Prodigal"
Casting Crown

Living on my own, thinking for myself
Castles in the sand, temporary wealth
Walls are falling down, storms are closing in
Tears have filled my eyes, here I am again

And I’ve held out as long as I can
Now I’m letting go and holding out my hand

Daddy, here I am again
Will You take me back tonight
I went and made the world my friend
And it left me high and dry
I drag Your name back through the mud
That You first found me in
Not worthy to be called Your son
Is this to be my end
Daddy, here I am
Here I am again

Curse this morning sun
Drags me in to one more day
Of reaping what I’ve sown
Of living with my shame
Welcome to my world
And the life that I have made
Where one day you’re a prince
The next day you’re a slave

Everlasting Light

I have a 20-minute commute to work and in that 20 minutes, sometimes I cried in prayer telling God to use me in a very very very special way. Somehow I think that my life is not fruitful enough since my new life started 20 years ago.  That prayer [i think] is answered in many ways lately..

It’s been a few weeks now that I’ve been trying to undo one of my life big projects “Zero Social Contact”. And so I opened up my life to people and tried to connect [real people and not fb or anything social media]. There’s a brewing friendship in my life lately in which I felt discomfort because I’ve been put through daring questions about how I do things, why I do things and sometimes I am not able to give a straight answer and so I made up an answer close to the question and doing so, more question arises in our conversation.

Fast forward >> Then our conversation led me to expose my faith [accidentally].  There was a question about “how come you and your cousin are so different”. Then I told this friend that “we should not be different”. I explained that both of us are “born again Christians” and with the same faith, reading the same Bible, we should be the same.  I added “we should have the same Spirit in us”.  I have to extract myself from the conversation since I felt that the moment is not there yet for this type of topic to be discussed.

I used to be unaware of why people disliked religion.  Maturity brings wisdom – I’ve learned about emotional, physical, material and spiritual boundaries.  Many people when they encounter Christians, they tend to run away from this type of friendship because early on, they draw the line – “hey I’m a believer and you are not”.

This morning I woke up with a question: “How can I explain to someone who does not believe in the existence of God?’’  Two answers came to mind.
1. “Pascal Wager”
2. “Everlasting Light” mentioned in Isaiah 60.

19 The sun shall be no more your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give you light; but the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. 20 Your sun shall no more go down, nor your moon withdraw itself; for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning shall be ended. "A Million Suns"

You stand eternal
The uncreated One
Who knows no end

The starry wonders
The vast expanses
Bound to Your command

You shine like a million suns ablaze
Wrapped in eternal light and praise
Jesus the First, the Last
The Bright, the Morning Star

You spoke creation
Into existence
Life and all we are

Beyond all measure
The universe
An echo of Your power

You shine like a million suns ablaze
Wrapped in eternal light and praise
Jesus the First, the Last
The Bright, the Morning Star
[x2]

Everlasting
Never ending
You will reign forevermore
You are holy
You are worthy
Lord of all
[x3]

You shine like a million suns ablaze
Wrapped in eternal light and praise
Jesus the First, the Last
The Bright, the Morning Star
[x2]

Did You rise the sun for me?

"Always"
Hillsong

Did You rise the sun for me?
Or paint a million stars that I might
Know Your majesty?
Is Your voice upon the wind?
Is everything I’ve known marked
With my maker’s fingerprints?

Breathe on me
Let me see Your face
Ever I will seek You

[Chorus:]
‘Cause all You are, is all I want, always
You draw me close in Your arms
Oh God, I wanna be with You

Can I feel You in the rain?
Abandon all I am to have You
Capture me again
Let the earth resound with praise
Can You hear as all creation lives
To glorify one name?

Did You make my heart beat?
Did You heal my broken heart?
Did You fix my chaotic thinking?
Did You make my pain go away?
Did You make my worries disappear?
Did You fill my bank with resources for the future?
Did You give me the inspiration to go on?
Did You just whispers to my numb emotion to stand up and face the hardship?
Did You tell those new people to come near me?
Did You come up with the brilliant idea that I had today?
Did You???

Love strung out
I am found in the price You paid
I know that Your life
Is the blood running through my veins

My eyes fixed wide on the light of the cross again
I feel the weight drop
In the wake of the empty grave

I want You
I need You
I love You
Jesus
My heart beats forever
Just to know You
Let go and throw my future into Your hands again

Heart beats loud to the sound of a different drum
Calling me out from the crowd to pursue the One

I want You
I need You
I love You
Jesus
My heart beats forever
Just to know You
Let go and throw my future into Your hands again

Break me down till I soar on grace
Lead me on through the fire and rain
The rhythm of my heart beats wild
For Your endless praise
Every waking hour I will seek Your face

#17. Desire To Know God

A few weeks ago, I came across the book – The Normal Personality by Steven Reiss [read myNotes]. Reiss and his team conducted a comprehensive research regarding the subject “motivation” and his team came up with a list of 16 Desires [see list below].

I don’t disagree with Reiss’ findings but I have an unresolved dilemma — I cannot categorize my “desire to know God” on any of the 16 Desires. I’ve tried Honor and Idealism and then Tranquility but it does not fit quite well.  Watch the interview of Shannon below and then listen to the song over and over and maybe you can help me identify what desires she have as she talks about the story of her song ‘Exalted One’.

So for my own use, I have to add #17, Spirituality, the desire to know God.  Perhaps, being a Christian is not or cannot be considered as Normal Personality. ;-]

Maybe Paul was right when he described Christians as peculiar  people: “Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” Titus 2:14

“peculiar-beyond or deviating from the usual or expected”

# Motive Description
1 Acceptance the desire to avoid criticism and rejection
2 Curiosity the desire for cognition
3 Eating the desire for food
4 Family the desire to raise one’s own children
5 Honor the desire to behave morally
6 Idealism the desire for social justice
7 Independence the desire for self-reliance
8 Order the desire for structure
9 Physical Activity the desire to move one’s muscles
10 Power the desire for influence of will
11 Romance the desire for sex
12 Saving the desire to collect
13 Social Contact the desire for friendship
14 Status the desire for prestige
15 Tranquility the desire for inner peace
16 Vengeance the desire to get even
17 Spirituality the desire to know God [added by blindcaveman]

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ut7ENK0QRDw]

We were born in the time of triumph
We were born on a battlefield
We were born for a such a time as this
We were born for a true revival
We were born for a harvest field
We were born for a such a time as this

So let the earth shake
Let the stars fall
Let the mountains tremble
We are not afraid
Let the people
Let the faithful stand and say

Prepare the way, He was
Prepare the way, He is
Prepare the way, He is to come

This is the sound of the generation
This is the song of the Royal King
You are born for such a time like this
He will return the declaration
He will appear every eye will see
We are born for a such a time as this

During worship yesterday at Celebration Church, I asked God to explain to me why there is calamity? [Tsunami, 9/11, wars, now Oklahoma tornado] but I came home with unanswered question.  Today, as I opened Spotify and played my favorite Christian music, I stumbled upon the new album by Paul Wilbur “Your Great Name”. This song spoke to my heart and answered my question.  I did not get my direct answer but I remember in the Bible that these days are coming… and warned us not to be surprised.

I Knew What I Was Getting Into [Listen in Spotify]
Misty Edwards

I knew what I was getting into when called you.
I knew what I was getting into when I said your name, but I said it just the same.
I knew what I was getting into and I still want you.
I knew what I was getting into.

I knew what I was getting into and I still chose you.
I knew what I was getting into and I still want you.
I knew what I was getting into when I said your name, but I said it just the same.
I knew what I was getting into.

And I am not shocked by your weakness.
And I am not shocked even by your sin.
And I am not shocked by your brokenness.

I knew what I was getting into and I still want you.
I knew what I was getting into and I still like you.
I knew what I was getting into and I still chose you.

Cuz only I can see the end from the beginning.
And only I can see where this is going.
And only I can see the end from the beginning.
And I see in you the seeds of love.
And I see in you strength when all you see is your failure and all you feel is ashamed.
I can see deeper than that.
I know you better than that.

I knew what I was getting into when called you.
I knew what I was getting into when I said your name.
I said it just the same.
I knew what getting into and I still want you.
I knew what I was getting into and I still like you.

Your only at the beginning.
You’ve only just begun and I know where you are going
And all you can see in the moment is that your hurting.
And all you can see in the moment is that your aching.

I knew what I was getting into when I called you.
I knew what I was getting into and I still want you.
I knew what I was getting into and I still like you.
I knew what I was getting into when I called you.

Just don’t give up.
And don’t give in.
If you don’t quit. You win, you win.

Just don’t give up.
And don’t give in.
If you don’t quit. You win, you win.

Everything is in my hands.
It’s going to be alright.
Everything is in my hands.
It’s going to be alright.
It’s going to be okay.
Everything is in my hands.
It’s going to be alright.
It’s going to be Okay.
And you don’t have to pretend to be something or someone your not.
Cuz I know you better than that, even better, even better than that.
Listen my Beloved.

I knew what I was getting into when I called you.
I knew what I was getting into when I said your name.
I said it just the same.
I knew what I was getting into and I still like you.
I knew what I was getting into and I still chose you

Overcome

Overcome

I’m coming to be touched by the coal
I’m coming that you’d reach out your hand and make me whole
I’ve walked by this fire so many times but now I’m coming in
Purify me Lord
Burn away the things that don’t please you
Create in me a light
A light that shines
Overcome I wanna be overcome
Overcome I wanna be overcome
Let the fire burn in me for the pure in heart will see you Lord
Baptize us in the Holy Spirit
Baptize us in fire
Fresh fire
I want to burn for you Lord

SONG: Lord, I Want You

To You Lord, I’ll be true
And through it all, I love You
[x2]

To You Lord, I’ll be true
And through it all, I love You

In the blindness that comes
Through the bitterness of soul
You’re teaching me to see with my heart
In the weakness that comes
When you touch me with Your hand
Forever I’ll be leaning on You
[x2]

Lord, I want You
