The Core; Day368

The Lord your God is in the midst of you, a Mighty One, a Savior [Who saves]! He will rejoice over you with joy; He will rest [in silent satisfaction] and in His love He will be silent and make no mention [of past sins, or even recall them]; He will exult over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17

Today. I’ve decided to take a vow of silence indefinitely.  I will still be writing a journal but it will not be viewable by the public.  I don’t know where this is going but I just had an impression in my heart to do it and I have to obey.

What went well?

1. I had to recover a hard drive failure last night.  It took me 6hours to finally recover the data and get the pc back on line.  I was not satisfied with the time I spent on recovery.  In theory, it should just be at most 2 hours.  I learned a few lessons along the way.  Overall, got the drive going again without resorting to installing a new drive.
What didn’t go so well?
1. Problem definition took a while (1hr).  The initial complaint was the software was sluggish and timing out waiting for the next command.  The history of what happened was not clearly stated most likely due to “fear factor” of getting blamed.  If I’ve known right away of how it started, I could have formulate the problem statement right at the start of troubleshooting and then work myself backwards to fix the problem.  Instead, I have to piece together what really happened and make assumptions.

For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will [seriously] remember their sin no more. [Heb. 8:8-12; 10:16, 17.]

Rebecca lost her dad today to cancer. She was not able to arrive on time.  Cang, hang in there.

DREAM: Me and the family were in a cruise ship. I was late in boarding but I saw my family were in inside already. Britta was in the cockpit like area of the ship cooking something.  The flame was so intense and then an explosion.  I was still below deck when this happened and there was chaos all over the place.  The cruise ship rocked from side to side and collided with other boats along the path.  Then there was silence and I thought for a while that I lost my family for good but then I saw Britta watching over Brent who was sleeping (with pacifier) at the lower deck.  I looked at Britta’s eyes and without words we climb the stairs together carrying Brent who was sleeping soundly.

Good Deeds Recorded; Day352

Heb 6:10  For God is not unrighteous to forget or overlook your labor and the love which you have shown for His name’s sake in ministering to the needs of the saints (His own consecrated people), as you still do.

I Corintians 13. 4-8 I’ve seen this verse today when I got up this morning. To most of you out there it does not mean anything but to me it means a lot – the seed is growing little by little and may it continue to grow day by day.

1Co 13:4  Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.
1Co 13:5  It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].
1Co 13:6  It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.
1Co 13:7  Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
1Co 13:8  Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth].

LOOKING BACK – YESTERDAY
What went well?

1. 5K Swim. It’s been a while since I’ve done a 5k swim.  I just wanted to know if I am still able to do it without problems.  The total workout was 105 laps (1h, 45min non-stop) .  Halfway of the event, I began to experience boredom but then a few guys came in and started hammering at a higher pace and we started racing.  I could not keep up with them, I think they were professional swimmers.  My goal was to stay at a comfortable pace (1min 50/100m) and I did that for the whole duration.  I stopped because I reached my objective – 5K but I still had a lot of energy left after the swim.  I took my heart rate at the end of the workout and it was only 90 bpm – meaning I was not exerting enough effort during the swim.

What didn’t go so well?
1. My 2002 GMC Yukon “Service Engine Soon” light is on and I have to react and find out what is wrong with my truck.  I went to Christian Brother’s Automotive and the diagnostic will cost me $92.00.   I decided to google the problem first and one guy suggested to go to Auto Zone and let them read the code.  Once there, the salesperson inserted a diagnostic gadget to the ECM Port and then went to his printer and printed out the code for me.

Always Forgiving; Day351; 5K Swim

Psa 130:1  A Song of Ascents. OUT OF the depths have I cried to You, O Lord.
Psa 130:2  Lord, hear my voice; let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
Psa 130:3  If You, Lord, should keep account of and treat [us according to our] sins, O Lord, who could stand? [Ps. 143:2; Rom. 3:20; Gal. 2:16.]
Psa 130:4  But there is forgiveness with You [just what man needs], that You may be reverently feared and worshiped. [Deut. 10:12.]

forgiveness – act of pardoning somebody for a mistake or wrongdoing.

I used to think that God will punish me whenever I do something bad.  As I began to grow as a Christian, I realized that He is a forgiving God.  No, He is not punishing us because we did something horrible, the sufferings are the consequence of own misdeeds.  Sometimes our situations becomes so difficult and unbearable and then we blame God for those tears and hardship we deal with everyday.  There are consequences in our own actions.  Those consequences are “man made” meaning – we created it.  But with God’s wisdom and guidance, He will guide us and lead us into a better situation.  Don’t give up!

Lately, I’ve been in contact with several people that has problems -local friends, co-workers, distant friends, out of the circle friends and always I can summarize the root cause of their (including me) problems – UNFORGIVENESS, the inability to tolerate a mistake.  So today, I searched some articles regarding the subject and compiled it for your easy reading. Please read it slowly and understand it and then put it into action.  They key to a clear mind is zero un-forgiveness in our heart.

LOOKING BACK – YESTERDAY
What went well?

1. I went out for a cold weather cycling yesterday at 46’F because last week I skipped my routine because of the weather and yesterday’s weather was almost identical of last Monday’s weather.  I cannot let the weather dictate my routines so yesterday I brave myself to go out even if it was really cold.  At 45’F, the weather is already cold enough to shock my body and add a 15 mph speed on the bike, the 45’F felt more likely at 40’s.  Fast forward 37 miles later, the ordeal was over.  I survived.

What didn’t go so well?
1. Case #1. My daughter is on her 2nd and final warning of driving fast in the corners and driving with one hand only.  She thinks she is already a level10 driver.  Yesterday was cold and raining when we picked up Brent from school.  It was my turn to pickup Brent but she volunteered to drive.  I was not comfortable yet so I hopped in in the passenger side of the pickup truck and off we drove.  I noticed that her driving at corners (left turn at Gattis School road was just >than normal speed.  I called her attention again (I mentioned this a million times already warning her but she is not listening).  I think she is thinking that I cannot take her car away from her.   Will see.
The reason why I emphasized to her about slowing down at corners because a few months ago, I was turning left at AW Grimes when my Yukon went out of control while cornering and I did a 360’ turn in the intersection.  I was blessed there were no cars on both sides of the intersection and nothing happened.  Her car has the same engine as my car (a V8) but only with a lighter body/frame.  Imagine how that Colorado pickup truck handles corners at high speed.

My countermeasure:
1. I gave her a 5 minute lecture about accidents
2. I let her wrote the consequences of poor driving habits (on a piece of paper)
a. Death
b. Crippled
c. Brain dead
e. Unnecessary car repairs
f.  Unnecessary car insurance cost
g. Her future can change forever

2. Case #2.  My daughter again received a warning from the home network administrator to remove her name for the group she joined on Facebook with the foul language in the title.  I think Facebook admin should filter those group creation with negative message.  I went to her notebook and wrote down her laptop’s mac address and gave her a warning if another violation is noted in her account, her wireless connection at home will be disconnected.

My Countermeasure:
1. Do this or you lose it (Rules and Systems – home version)

Am I so strict?  No, not really.  I laid out some rules in the household and it needs to be followed for safety reasons (and sometimes sanity).  Rules are there to establish “peace and order”.  I still need to write my own version of Rules and Systems at home (governance). This is another big project ;-().

I was in a convoy when a fast moving vehicle (running in reverse) trying to catch up with the convoy (with people inside yelling to us to stop).  At the end of the road there was a fatal accident. Saw a lot of people dead lying around all over the place. I helped in pulling and rescuing the people that were trapped. One old lady was pinned down by the vehicle (jeepney).

What went well?

1. Windows Media Services 2008
I fixed my Windows Media streaming problem.  I was troubleshooting WMS2008 when I made changes on the WMS2003 server into a new name.  When I did that, the whole setup was changed programmatically. Now I have to rename the internal link of the stream because there is no other way to go back to default settings.  I have one choice – to restore my hyper-v backup but then the SQL Server also will be restored to –2weeks of data of which I did not have a database backup to fall back.  My solution – change the streaming url to correct the problem. Here’s the new url . Case closed – I just need to edit >60 html pages and insert the web publishing name \ondemand in the original hyperlink.
Lesson Learned:
1. Don’t experiment with the production setup.
2. Backup Hyper-V regularly and backup up SQL DB also.

2. Last Mile Sprint
In the past days, I’ve been observing Brittney and Brent regarding their way of doing school homework.  I noticed that they love to do it on Sunday – at the last minute.  (I find it non-Rigel way) So yesterday, I asked them why?  The quick answer was – Dad, we want to enjoy the long weekend first.  Psychologically this is the norm.  People tend to enjoy the moment first and then later suffer.  I told them, go through the hard part first, endure the hardship, endure the difficult moments and then enjoy the rest of the journey.  I hope they understand “the principle of hardship first then glory” and not the other way around.

3. Cardiac Status
Sometimes I forgot that I am a cardiac patient (343 days in recovery) and two days ago, I was reminded that my heart is not what it used to be.  I was running in the treadmill (5.5mph) but realized that I was breathing hard at normal pace (@PE-15, normal is PE-11).  The incident got my attention and I immediately lower the exertion.  For 1mile, it took me 14 minutes to complete.  I’ve been doing 11.2 minutes in one mile.  This is my stress test – to gauge where my heart function is.  I don’t like running anymore but performing a mile test on the treadmill gave me a clear status of my cardio system (Clinical Stress Test is somewhat like this minus the EKG and the radioisotope). I’ve noticed that my heart rate at rest has been slower than normal lately (about 55 bpm). I have no chest pain and just not breathing well.  Is this a pulmo problem?  Hmmm.  I’ll find out later if I am able to continue to live.  Anyway, I’m writing this stuff here because I want to be transparent to the world about how I live my life and how I face difficulties like this.  It is really tough on my part but I am bravely facing the fact that sooner or later I have to go.  When that time comes, REJOICE! and always remember that I found something special in life – The Holy Spirit. Go read again 1 Corinthians 2.12.

Borg Perceived Exertion Scale
The Borg Perceived Exertion Scale gives you an idea of how hard your exercise feels. If it feels light (less than 12), you should increase the pace of your exercise, walking, biking, swimming, etc.  If the exercise feels hard (14 or greater, you need to slow the pace.  Exercise should feel somewhat hard (12-13).

4. Brittney and her new Colorado 4×4 Pickup Truck
Today is the first time Brittney will be driving her truck to school.  We did some last minute training yesterday on driving the pickup truck.  I’m not worried about her driving, just concerned about the variables that she haven’t seen yet.  She is a good driver but then she only show this when I am there with her.  Although sometimes she accelerates too quickly and I think that this is due to the V8 engine power.  This vehicle is lighter than the Yukon and more powerful.  People asked me why I choose this truck for a 17-year old girl.
WHY?
o Pickup truck is bigger – safer (I hope so)
o Z71 High Stance – safer (I hope so)
o I needed a pickup truck for hauling stuff at home when I am doing household work
o V8-to limit the mileage of the teenager – makes her think that she just can’t run around leisurely.
o 4×4-When I was a child, I always like off-road vehicle, this is my dream vehicle
o Why GM-Chevy? For some reason I like the quality of my 2002 Yukon – no major problems in 7 years after travelling from Texas to Florida 2x, New York-DC 1x.  Colorado was like a baby Yukon. Other option was a GLK350, a smaller version of Britta’s ML350.  I turned down the other choices due to Brittney’s being young yet.  She can get that on her own when she has her own income.
o In Texas, every home has a pickup truck in the driveway (maybe 80%)

What didn’t go so well?

Never Stop; Day341; Brent’s Version of “Paparazzi”

Luk 11:9  So I say to you, Ask and keep on asking and it shall be given you; seek and keep on seeking and you shall find; knock and keep on knocking and the door shall be opened to you.

Brent’s version of “Paparazzi” inspired by Lady GaGa – Paparazzi Acoustic . (I hope his inspiration resources will help his calling later. As a parent, we can only guide our kids – not control ….. one day, maybe…)

LOOKING BACK – YESTERDAY
What went well?

1. Recorded a short piano video of Brent “Paparazzi” using an old MiniDV Sony Camcorder DCR-PC101.  The project was not about the video recording or his performance but it was for me to experiment on Windows Media Service in W2008.  It turned out that he was doing well on the presentation and agreed to publish it on YouTube.  There are two places that the video reside, one in my streaming video server (not sure if this works outside my firewall, intranet is fine) and the other one in YouTube

2. Brittney and Brent went out playing tennis between 6pm-9pm at Old Settler’s Park. Brittney on night driving test with the new pickup truck.  Parents were worried.

3. Completed Brent’s piano recording hardware setup with the notebook on the side for duet with YouTube and the video cam on the left side.

What didn’t go so well?
1. Unable to complete the Windows Media Broadcasting due to software issues.  Need to read more on this later.  Somehow, the new version of Windows Media services is harder to configure.
2. Planned 30 miles on the bike – it was cold and no motivation.

Zero Slumber; Day340

Psa 121:2  My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.
Psa 121:3  He will not allow your foot to slip or to be moved; He Who keeps you will not slumber. [I Sam. 2:9; Ps. 127:1; Prov. 3:23, 26; Isa. 27:3.]
Psa 121:4  Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
Psa 121:5  The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand [the side not carrying a shield]. [Isa. 25:4.]

Malfunctioned Heart Repair; Day324; Mentoring #5-GTD

Psa 147:3  He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [curing their pains and their sorrows].

A promise of repair for the believers.

Mentoring 101 – GTD
A few years back, I came across GTD and I was really impressed of how simple it is to get things done if we only follow certain principles.  I am not going to explain here what it is because the articles below will do that for you.  I placed this as #5 in the mentoring project because to me, this is one of the basic foundation of how we will be able to attain our full potential.  Print the flow chart in color and hang it in your wall for easy viewing.  If you come to my home office, these two GTD flow charts are visible right above my dual monitor screen.  A simple GTD rule: if you can do it in 2 minutes, do it, if not, schedule it and put it in your calendar or to do list.  The MIT on my journal came from the GTD.  MIT’s are very important, it becomes my goal for the day and when I accomplish that, I am satisfied and call it a successful day.  For those of you who are just starting to embrace the life of an adult, please don’t miss the opportunity to master GTD.  Believe me, If I’ve known this GTD system when I was 24, my life (I think) could have been much simpler.

2. Remote buzzer project at work is progressing well.
3. Log Parser implementation at work was tested yesterday and working well.  How I wish there will be a web based version of the queries viewable in our intranet.  Will keep reading.

Infinite Source; Day323; Mentoring #1-2 Faith

Mal 4:2  But to you who give worship to my name, the sun of righteousness will come up with new life in its wings; and you will go out, playing like young oxen full of food.

It is amazing to wake up and feel good about being alive again for another day.   A close friend of mine mentioned to me that sometimes he does not have any motivation at all to get up and start a new day.  Me too, I feel that way sometimes but there is something that I do every morning that wakes me up and motivates me – I go to my daily devotional calendar and lookup the message for the day and then stare at the message until I fully comprehend the message.  I don’t want this to be a secret anymore, please try it yourself and you will see how uplifting it.  Now you are thinking that I am going crazy…. no.  Once you read the scripture of the day, reflect it to your own life and imagine how it unveils the possibilities of what you can do for the day.  It is really amazing.  These words mentioned here are short messages from God.  There were times that the word of the day coincided or predicted the occurrence of something.  How I wish I can transfer that secret to all of you.

To my new friend, (Mentoring 101)

Honoring His Name; Day322

Psa 86:10  For You are great and work wonders! You alone are God.
Psa 86:11  Teach me Your way, O Lord, that I may walk and live in Your truth; direct and unite my heart [solely, reverently] to fear and honor Your name. [Ps. 5:11; 69:36.]
Psa 86:12  I will confess and praise You, O Lord my God, with my whole (united) heart; and I will glorify Your name forevermore.
Psa 86:13  For great is Your mercy and loving-kindness toward me; and You have delivered me from the depths of Sheol [from the exceeding depths of affliction].

I want to honor God in everything I do. Once in a while, I get this assignment to reach out to someone outside my circle.  Often times I am reluctant because I don’t even know what to say or do or write.  It happened to me recently and I have to start from nothing and build up a conversation to this person.  I am a quite guy (for those who don’t me) and I hope that I am doing it right.

Blessings; Day321

1Pe 3:9  Never return evil for evil or insult for insult (scolding, tongue-lashing, berating), but on the contrary blessing [praying for their welfare, happiness, and protection, and truly pitying and loving them]. For know that to this you have been called, that you may yourselves inherit a blessing [from God–that you may obtain a blessing as heirs, bringing welfare and happiness and protection].

Blessings – help believed to come from God or another deity; approval or good wishes; something to be glad or relieved about; to be favored by God

I love favors especially the ones that happen unexpectedly. I cannot count how many times I received a special favor from God.  You too, you received a lot of blessings, count it and you will be amazed how blessed you are.  Some of you here are not really experiencing the best of everything but I want to encourage you to do good things (keep doing it) and later great things.  The blessings will flow later.  For those that is just starting life and/or still at the very beginning phase, do good things every day, say good things, encourage people to do the same, spread peace and love, tell the good news, share your joy. Don’t do it because of the blessings. Do it as an act of obedience and you will see incredible things happen  in your life.

Let me just enumerate the big ones here: (not in order).
my beautiful and loving wife
my obedient daughter
my smart son
my wife’s job at St. David’s (13 years)
my job at Samsung (11 years)
my health
my finances
my time to swim, bike, run, read, write journal, study the Bible, encourage people, mentor friends, help a friend fix something

LOOKING BACK – YESTERDAY
What went well?

1. 32-Mile bike ride was great.  I changed my strategy on food. I brought 2 clif bars and started eating @mile 10 (half only), after the next 10 miles I ate the remaining half. It works.  I was climbing the last 7 miles of the ride with no difficulty at all.
2. Expanded my friendship to a high school friend (AC)
3. Me and Brent are doing Aikido basic technique training.  He seems to be so interested.  I started when I was 18, he is only 13.
4. Britta started her walking/running program (finally). I am her only cheerleader, Day0001 was yesterday.  She had done this before and was successful and lost 20 lbs,  She is currently at 165lbs. (-30)
5. Successfully setup remote desktop to a client in Austin.  I am now able to work on his Windows 2003 Media Server remotely and setup media streaming.  Imagine working around the world without being actually there at the server.  We are currently testing a future business that we can run remotely.  We build the server here in Round Rock and later send it to the client around the world.
6. Log Parser testing was successful, learned new query on IIS log files.  Loving it to be able to do “one click” to verify a web server activity.  Still more work to do.  The Sharepoint logs are not user friendly
7. Scheduled a cycling training with a partner for today, hopefully it will happen. Long distance cycling with a partner is great (shared suffering = less pain)

What didn’t go so well?
1. My daughter drove with an expired driver’s license and I missed it.
2. My daughter asking to go somewhere on a school day and I said YES, I thought it was for the weekend permission. (i was tricked or just not listening too well to the client)

Faith=Knowing+Experience; Day320

Eph 3:17  May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love,
Eph 3:18  That you may have the power and be strong to apprehend and grasp with all the saints [God’s devoted people, the experience of that love] what is the breadth and length and height and depth [of it];
Eph 3:19  [That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]!

I need your beacon.
DEFINITION: Beacon-flashing light for ships: a lighthouse or signaling buoy that produces a flashing light to warn or guide ships; radio transmitter producing navigation signal: a radio transmitter that continuously broadcasts a signal that aircraft use for guidance.

One of the reason that I am keeping a journal and placed it online is for my family and friends to know my status (my well being and not “look at me”).  Remember, I am a cardiac patient and a lot of people are worried about me.  By writing something here, my words become a flashing light that my body and mind are still functioning well.  It is like a tiny LED light telling the world that I am recovering well and my mental status is just normal.  It makes other people aware of what I am up to, what I am thinking and what are my current projects. I know that not all of you are capable of doing this type of motion in life but bear with me, it’s there for a reason and some of you are listening.  If you don’t like it, just don’t read.  Sometimes I question myself if what I am doing is TMI (too much information).  Sometimes it is but sometimes I requested to share something to the world and I have to obey.

My beacon is consistent but I’ve noticed that some of my friends are not.  There were times that I am reconnected to a good old friend.  There are excitements in the first few days and all of a sudden, SILENCE.  This occurrence is cyclical and always visible to some of you.  You say hello sometimes and then another SILENCE for a few months then reconnect again. I am OK with that but for people that I am helping with or assisting in their life struggle, I need your beacon, I need your flashing light to signal me that you are doing fine. Tell me about the progress of your relationship, tell me the progress of your job search, tell me the progress of your health, tell me the progress of your faith, tell me the progress of your kids, tell me the progress of your exercise program.  Even a simple message of “I’m still here” is fine.  I just needed to know that you are still there and you don’t need to write me a novel about your status – one liner is fine.  I’ve been slowly adopting the LEAN Pull System in my life and I will not respond to the next item until there is a need for it. LEAN Push and Pull System . So please, if I was in some form helping you or talking to you, or writing/exchanging email with you regarding something, I need your beacon.  Say something, comment on something or maybe just text me that you are fine.

Daily beacon with regards to our faith is how we grow in our faith.  How can God know our heart if we don’t signal Him of what we do in real life.  God needs our beacon to gauge us of where we are in our walk with Him.  I know He is watching us but a constant communication with Him really build a stronger faith.  Faith is establishing a relationship and it is a day to day relationship.  If you try to skip a day, there is a possibility of slipping.

Some of you are suffering more than the rest of us.  My only encouragement is don’t give up.  Stay in our faith.  If you give up the faith, I don’t really know what else works.  Cry if you must but always pray. Our daily struggles strengthen us, motivates us and teaches us.  It is there for reason …. it is just a matter of finding the reason and sometimes it does not have an explanation at all.  If you really have to make a very difficult decision, please let me know and we will decide things “The Bible Way” and in that we can never go wrong.

Out of Darkness; Day319; Daughter @17

Psa 107:14  He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and broke apart the bonds that held them.
Act 2:1  AND WHEN the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all assembled together in one place,
Act 2:2  When suddenly there came a sound from heaven like the rushing of a violent tempest blast, and it filled the whole house in which they were sitting.
Act 2:3  And there appeared to them tongues resembling fire, which were separated and distributed and which settled on each one of them.
Act 2:4  And they were all filled (diffused throughout their souls) with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other (different, foreign) languages (tongues), as the Spirit kept giving them clear and loud expression [in each tongue in appropriate words].

Out of Darkness:
A big question comes to mind – What is darkness? How do you get out of the darkness?
Gal 5:19  Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20  Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21  Envying, murders, drunkenness, reveling, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

These are darkness:
Adultery – extramarital sex: voluntary sexual relations between a married person and somebody other than his or her spouse
Fornication – consenting sex involving somebody unmarried: sexual intercourse between two consenting adults who are not married to each other
Uncleanness – unchaste: sinful, especially involving or guilty of committing a sexual sin
Lasciviousness – lewd: showing a desire for, or unseemly interest in, sex
Idolatry – Image worship, watching undesirable images/videos
Sorcery – Practicing magic or witchcraft
Enmity – Hatred, hostility: the extreme ill will or hatred that exists between enemies
Strife – Quarrel, bitter conflict or rivalry: bitter and sometimes violent conflict, struggle, or rivalry
Jealousy – Possessively watchful of something
Anger – Strong feelings of grievance and displeasure
Selfishness – looking after own desires: concerned with your own interests, needs, and wishes while ignoring those of others
Division – disagreement: a disagreement or strong difference of opinion, especially when this leads to a split in a group
Heresy – unorthodox opinion: an opinion or belief that does not coincide with established or traditional theory, especially in philosophy, science, or politics
Envy – feeling bitter and unhappy because of another’s advantages, possessions, or luck
Drunkenness – intoxicated: overly excited by or as if by having consumed too much alcohol
Carousing – drink and become noisy: to drink and become noisy, especially in a group

How do you get out of the darkness?
I don’t claim to be totally 100% out of darkness in my life.  I am just like you and I am tempted just like you.  Until the time of our departure, we will experience some type of darkness in our life.  On the big ones above, those are ‘uncheck’ in my life already but it does not mean that I will not fall into temptations, we all are and that is why being a Christian is a daily walk.  We have to do it daily, renew our vows daily, renew our faith daily and walk faithfully daily.  For those who don’t me personally and haven’t peek in my past, don’t ask but I’ve been there and done that (not so bad though) and the bad thing is a few people knows about it.  I’ve hurt people (emotionally, not physically), I’ve crossed the line made by my parents, I’ve disobeyed/violated some rules before and I used to drink and smoke and party (boy’s only).  I don’t do those things anymore. I don’t even go to a party anymore.  I kept myself separated from those temptations because I’ve been reborn into a new ME.  Believe me, cleansing my lifestyle took a long time.  I always wanted to clean myself up physically, mentally and spiritually but the efforts were just wasted. I had so many resolutions that never made it into the next week.  I’ve tried mind control, self control, meditation, physical discipline and Aikido etc, never work.  Even having a beautiful girlfriend (now my wife) did not work.  Each of us has our own struggles, we noticed it every time we get up in the morning.  Those craving of something, those ill feeling, those anger, those jealousy and envy, depression, sadness, uncertainty …. how we wish it will be replaced with PEACE.  I don’t have a magic wand to get rid of all that but I know a way to get into a peaceful state.

I am at peace now. Nothing bothers me anymore. Not because I survived many near death incidents … but because I believed in something.  Keep searching, keep looking and one day you will be set free from your darkness.  There is a cure out there and it is freely given to us. I never heard of Acts 2:4 before but after I went through the infilling of the Holy Spirit, my whole life changed.  Please read this article – The Baptism of the Holy Spirit for more information.  It has 13 pages but I want you to known that this thing exists.  A true change in our life will happen only after the Holy Spirits dwells in us.

Today is the 17th birthday of my daughter. Nothing fancy. All four of us attended the Sunday service at Celebration Church.  Normally, it is just me and cc. The message was “Moving Forward on your Giving”  I did not realize how hard it is for us to give – not necessarily money but our life, our dedication, our trust, our attention, our time, our love, our devotion, our faithfulness, our honesty, our ears to listen to others.  I do hope that one day by my example, people will freely give.

True God; Day318

Joh 17:11  And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
Joh 17:11  And [now] I am no more in the world, but these are [still] in the world, and I am coming to You. Holy Father, keep in Your Name [in the knowledge of Yourself] those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We [are one].
John 17-Full Chapter

True God
Yesterday, I was asked by somebody why he was dreaming dreams (weird dreams) and I replied that I will email him my explanation later this weekend.  When I got up this morning (0530am), I looked at my daily devotional calendar and today’s study is the 17th Chapter of John.  So I read the full chapter and there it is – the answer to his question, John 17:3, True God. This is not coincidence. Someone higher up was orchestrating two lives. One asked the question and the other provides the answer. Awesome God.  There is only one true God and I can’t explain it well at this moment because I am pressed for time.  His story started at Genesis, then the prophets foretold his coming and it happened in the New Testament in the person of Jesus Christ and then during His death, He said He will send His Holy Spirit to us.  Long story short – God—>Jesus—> Holy Spirit . It is the Holy Spirit that will be the one touching our lives as He did by revealing himself through questions like this or dreams that we dream or people that we met.  He touched our hearts even now as you are reading this journal.  He is speaking to you.

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

There is only one true God.

Times of Trouble; Day317; Fort Hood Tragedy

Psa 9:9  The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
Psa 9:10  And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Times of Trouble:
Perfect timing for the word study today- it comes synonymous to the tragic incident in Fort Hood Texas. I was stationed in Killeen, Texas for approximately 3 years and when I heard on the radio about the shooting, it hits home right away.  I know almost every corner of the Army base.  Killeen was our home for a while when my daughter Brittney was still 2 years old.  I really have so many memories and good times and bad times from that small town.  Being a soldier is not as simple as it might look as displayed on TV or news coverage or any publicity stunt produced by the department of defense.  It might look really cool when guys are jumping out from the airplane or rappelling down from a low flying helicopter or having a rucksack and an M16 on the shoulder or driving an M1A1 Abrams tank or running around early in the morning for daily physical training.  The really hard part of being a soldier is not the physical aspect of it but instead on the psychological and emotional well being.  Physical toughness can be acquired immediately after boot camp but mental toughness of being a soldier takes some time to develop especially when you have a family. Soldiers are not well compensated also and there is always a financial hardship in a soldier’s life. Other things to consider is the stress level during the deployment.  I was fortunate when I was there in Ft Hood because I was assigned to the III Corps Headquarters Group of which most of our duties was just to support the high military ranking officers for their daily needs. ie. transportation, logistics, maintenance etc.  The rest of the group in Ft Hood are either member of the 1st Cavalry division and 4th Infantry Division. Those guys in that unit always has something unusual on their plate and they are always on the move, always training and always deploying.  On the other side of being in the military is the family.  If you are in the military, your spouse becomes a member of the family also.  I can still remember how my family was unable to rest and relax during the weekend because of unpredictable training exercise that lasts for at least 2 weeks at a time (being away from home is a norm).  I have to be away for 2 weeks and Britta has to find a baby sitter to take care of Brittney while she goes to work.  Civilian life is too easy (I think). Now, I normally gets a 3-day weekend and not even have to worry of any deployment or being temporarily assigned to go somewhere.  Being deployed is the hardest part of a soldier’s life especially when you have a wife and a child.  When in combat, there is always somebody beside you and soldiers tend to bond to each other when placed in difficult situations.  But place a soldier away from his family, that soldier will cry and break down.  I’ve seen and heard it so many times and even experienced it myself.  In September of 1992, I was in New York after the boot camp and had my orders to be deployed to South Korea for 1 year hardship tour (no family), while going back to New York from Fort Knox, Kentucky, my emotions/morale was fine but during the time when I have to say goodbye to Britta (departure from JFK to Korea), I cried so much and I question God why did He allowed me to be separated from her again.  The emotion is really hard to describe.  At that time, she was 7 month pregnant of Brittney.  To me, going away like that was the hardest I’ve ever experienced while I was in the military.  I’ve survived difficult situations, slept wet in a sleeping bag, walked miles and miles for several days and been deprived from any comforts for weeks but the hardest part of being a soldier is being separated from his family.  That is why most soldiers I know don’t really have a true smile in their face.  Other stress factor I’ve learned is infidelity in the military.  Most of my friends had marital problems and when they come home from deployment and then learned that the spouse is doing something else, sometimes they snapped.  It is really hard to detect an emotionally troubled soldier.  We are trained to maintain our composure, we are trained to ignore outside factors and focus on the mission.  Hardly I’ve ever heard a comrade tells me his personal problems.  People in the military, they are just emotionless individuals but when put at the end of the rope, they sometimes just do crazy things.  I was thankful I was already a Christian believer when I joined. I had the advantage of faith and whenever I have troubles I just got to a secret place and pray.  The things that happened yesterday was a tragedy and I don’t think that those are preventable.  It happens all the time because we live in reality and we experience problems day to day and we always react in ways sometimes unexplainable.  The person pulling the trigger was in trouble, he has problems and made a mistake of choosing violence over resolving his problems peacefully.  If only he knows that there is a “place of refuge”.

Below is a the Soldier’s Creed that every US Military knows. I carried this card all the time while I was still in the service to remind me of my duties.  Read it, it is worded elegantly and if taken seriously,  you will never hear/seen a news like that – a soldier out of control and the sad part, he was an officer.

The Soldier’s Creed

I am an American Soldier.
I am a Warrior and a member of a team.  I serve the people of the United States and live the Army Values.

I will always place the mission first.
I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit.
I will never leave a fallen comrade.

I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills.  I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself.
I am an expert and I am a professional.
I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy the enemies of the United States of America in close combat.
I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life.
I am an American Soldier.

To all good soldier’s out there, be encourage and let this tragic incident be a lesson learned.  You have a job do.  Be safe and adhere to what you signed up for.

Done Deal; Day316

Rev 21:6  And He [further] said to me, It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I [Myself] will give water without price from the fountain (springs) of the water of Life. [Isa. 55:1.]
Revelation 21

Done Deal:
Have you ever started a huge project that requires a lot of effort and resources?  Have you ever discarded a project because you thought that you were not going anywhere and you felt that you were just wasting your time.  Sometimes I feel this way when I am in the middle of a big project that are stagnant.  Sometimes I hope that if only I can see the outcome before I even start step 1. How I wish God will show me the ending so that when I experience a setback, I can just convince myself that the story will still end beautifully…. but wait… didn’t Revelation promised us a “done deal” ending?

Lately, I’ve met new friends who [out of nowhere] just showed up in my life.  Or maybe we know each other before and we just began to reconnect.  There is always a beginning and I promise you that when you connect/reconnect with me, there is a higher purpose and there will be a great ending.  I’ve met a few good friends in my life and I’ve noticed that these friends just come and go.  Sometimes we tackle a marriage problem, sometimes we solve a technical problem, sometimes we troubleshoot a financial problem, sometimes we brainstorm a psychological problem and sometimes we try to solve a problem that we don’t even know it existed.  A few of you that knows me know what I’m talking about.  Yes, we see a difficult problem in front us and how I wish I can just tell you that the ending is fabulous. How I wish I can boldly say that in the middle of your journey, you will find what you are looking for. How I wish that I can tell you that you will find a job in one corner of the world.  How I wish I can tell you that your marriage will be fine even if you argue everyday.  How I wish I can tell you that the life storm that you are experiencing will stop soon.  How I wish I can tell you that your suffering will come to an end soon.  Honestly, I can’t tell you that.

But I want to tell you that there is a promise in the Bible that says “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Rev 21:4” Our life is a done deal.

Interesting Dream:
There are dreams that I pay attention and this is one of them.  I saw the beginning, I saw how it all started, I know what happened in the past but the middle and the ending part is still a mystery.  With this dream, it reveals something that will happen in the future. I hope that one day I will see the “homecoming” come to reality.  It feels like God started something great, left out the middle part but then later hinted that the ending is great.

LOOKING BACK – YESTERDAY
What went well?

1. I tested the Log Parser script that I put together the other day and I was able to query a remote client in just one click.  I was able to merged the two event log files (System/Application).  Although, this was just a test, it placed a great value of helping me troubleshoot a software crash happening at work.

2. Last week, our team [at work] made 2 huge mistakes that has a potential loss of product.  Coming back to work was a mixed feeling.  I was expecting a nasty gram from the boss of how we missed to mistake proof our procedures.  Long story short, there was not much damage to the product.  Lesson learned-pay attention on what you are doing and enforce “quality in every step”.  Of course the team now knows how to play the game perfectly.

Boss is Coming; Day315

1Th 4:16  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud cry of summons, with the shout of an archangel, and with the blast of the trumpet of God. And those who have departed this life in Christ will rise first.
1 Thessalonians – Chapter 4

Many of us act differently when the boss is not around.  We do crazy things or we slack off or we tend to be lazy when no one is watching us.  Honestly, my motivation of my actions as a Christian is not based on the reward that I will receive or the pat in the back (that I will get later) telling me that I am a good and faithful servant.  My motivation is just plain sharing of what I know and what I personally experienced, what helped me in my struggles and what guide me when I am lost.  Yes, the boss is coming but we know that if we are obedient of His commandments and we execute His orders then we don’t need to worry about His return.

So what are we suppose to do before the boss comes back

Satisfied Soul; Day314

Psa 107:8  Oh, that men would praise [and confess to] the Lord for His goodness and loving-kindness and His wonderful works to the children of men!
Psa 107:9  For He satisfies the longing soul and fills the hungry soul with good.

Satisfied Soul
I used to wake up depressed, sad, tired, no motivation, lost and always wondering what to do next or not what to do.  I read books (self help books) to find the truth of how to really satisfy my longings (now I read the Bible every morning, just a few verses to feed the soul).  I’ve tried meditation and it works for a while.  I’ve tried Aikido and it was fulfilling for some time but it never sinks in towards the soul satisfaction.  Then later, I discovered cycling and it was great for a while until I almost died when a car struck me from behind.  I love cycling most because it gives me freedom to go anywhere plus I can just cruise when I am tired.  My other favorite escapade was a solitude of 1 hour in Merida pantalan (pier) and just stare the sun as it goes up and listen to the waves splashing in the background (Merida-wait for me.. I’ll be there one day).  Then later I discovered swimming and began to love it.  There is something in the water that keeps me at peace and I can mostly enjoy the long distance swim and feel satisfied about life.  When I was still in the Army, it was the morning 3mile run that keeps me away from all the stress.  Then there was this longing of financial stability.  A few years back, me and my wife struggles in our finances and honestly we have to really work hard to get something or buy something and then we argue.  I remember the days when my term in Army was almost at the end and I have to transition to civilian life.  There were so many questions in my mind.  Where is the job? Where shall I start looking?  Where to raise our kids?  I still have a few questions in life that are left unanswered but I am not worried about it anymore.  I still have my day to day struggles but those don’t bother me anymore.

I know that I am not alone in my situation.  I’ve read it in FB all the time. People are not satisfied.  People are longing for something. People are searching. People are seeking something.  I am aware that people sometimes don’t really need to hear any advice or counsel. I don’t have a degree in psychology and I never went to a seminary or Bible college and all I have is a real life experience daily and I want to share this to all my friends (known and unknown) that there is a way to satisfy our soul and it is not in the physical realm (the things I mentioned above).  There is a spirit realm, we don’t see it but if you observe your surroundings, find time to feel it and open your spiritual eyes … then you will begin to see and experience it.

Yesterday, while I was driving with Brent for his tennis practice, we saw an accident that was about to happen.  The light was yellow and there were 2 cars trying to beat the yellow light (50mph) and then the oncoming traffic was also trying to beat the yellow light but the problem was he was turning left.  I slowed down because I saw the caution light (me sometimes) and then we heard a very loud braking noise (tire squeak) but fortunately we did not hear a loud bang.  To me, something happened in the spirit realm in that particular moment (a spiritual intervention).  I’ve been in so many similar situations like that and somehow, there is always that protection over me.  They said that there are angels out there protecting us. Last night, I am 100% sure they were there to protect us.

Step1 in Soul Satisfaction:
1. Start a personal relationship to God through Christ. Everything you do, just talk to Him.  Kinda’ funny at first but you will get used to it.  Use Him to guide you in your daily life, at work, relationship, job search etc.

It’s been a week now since I launch my Log Parser study.  I am learning slowly but the results are very promising.  I have not fully comprehend the mechanism of the tool but the potential is there.  Imagine troubleshooting a computer problem by just performing a remote query from one console and it gives you all the details in one tabulated result.  I’ve put together some of the examples that I’ve tested and it really works.  Imagine a search engine on any log files or any event logs from different client pc.  More on this later but here’s the SQL Queries that I am testing.

More Walk-Less Talk; Day313

1Jo 1:7  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1Jo 1:7  But if we [really] are living and walking in the Light, as He [Himself] is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses (removes) us from all sin and guilt [keeps us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations].

More Walk and Less Talk
I never like publicity, I never like exposing myself to the world, I never like voicing my opinion and giving my 2 cents to any topic. I like to be the silent guy in the corner that is just listening. At work, I will only speak when there is a good reason for me to open my mouth (most of my close friends knows).  In short I am really trying hard to live as low as I can so that people will not get annoyed by what I talk about.  But as you read this journal, the opposite is happening.  It seems like I am always talking about my faith, The Word and The Walk.  Believe me, I don’t like to write anything on this journal, to me it is all “just words” and I don’t even know if people are getting blessed or encouraged by it’s message.  But then once in a while, out of nowhere, a stranger will email me or make a comment that he/she was blessed by what I wrote one day.  Many times I am trying to shutdown my way journaling and just go back to my secret journal and let people read it when I am dead but then what purpose will it serve if the things I write is not read in real time.

Back to the subject, “More walk but less talk”, I feel that the message is very simple, walk with God 24/7.  In all our actions, walk with Him.  I know that this is hard because we are still living in this worldly environment and there are always temptations around us.  I am always tempted but then when I am walking with Him, I will realize right away that I need to get back into the right track.  Once you walked with Him closely, then you have something to report about and then you can talk. So on the same note, walk with the Light, then later talk about the Light.

Side note: Today’s Word seems like paralleled to what LEAN called “Walking the Gemba”

The Church was placed into our hands. (Our responsibility)

The Church is satan’s enemy.( People[initially] hates Christ, the Church and Christians, they don’t want to hear anything about the Good news)

Who/What is the Church? You and me. Not the building, not the place of worship nor the organized religion. It’s the people that truly believed in Him. It is us.

Bountiful Eye; Day312

Pro 22:9  He who has a bountiful eye shall be blessed, for he gives of his bread to the poor. [II Cor. 9:6-10.]
Matthew Henry’s Commentary
Here is, 1. The description of a charitable man; he has a bountiful eye, opposed to the evil eye (Pro_23:6) and the same with the single eye (Mat_6:22), – an eye that seeks out objects of charity, besides those that offer themselves, – an eye that, upon the sight of one in want and misery, affects the heart with compassion, – an eye that with the alms gives a pleasant look, which makes the alms doubly acceptable. He has also a liberal hand: He gives of his bread to those that need – his bread, the bread appointed for his own eating. He will rather abridge himself than see the poor perish for want; yet he does not give all his bread, but of his bread; the poor shall have their share with his own family. 2. The blessedness of such a man. The loins of the poor will bless them, all about him will speak well of him, and God himself will bless him, in answer to many a good prayer put up for him, and he shall be blessed.

Miracle of the Blind – John 9
image

We are the miracle! Don’t wait for one.
I was watching the videos of Nick-Life Without Limbs yesterday (just read my yesterday’s post) and he mentioned about how his eyes was opened regarding his being born without arms and legs and he was praying for a miracle.  He also wrestled to the idea that God was unfair and that he should have his legs and arms just like the rest of us.  In his interview, he was asked when did you realize that you needed to trust God.  His answer, “when I read the miracle of the blind”.  He elaborated that when he read the passage “but the works of God should be made manifest in him”, his life became the miracle and not his being without arms and legs.  When you looked at now of the thing he accomplished for the Kingdom, it is beyond comprehension that a crippled man he is can reach out to millions of people.

“but that the works of God should be made manifest” – that implies to all of us. I wrestled to God so many times about calamities, hurricane Katrina, the tsunami in Thailand, my own problems, why people had to suffer, why people had to cry, why the rest are just as happy as they can be, why cancer, divorce, infidelity. Then I asked why there is no more miracle like the blind man able to see or the crippled able to walk nowadays.  Then He whispers to my heart, what about the doctors I sent or what about the medicine I let people invent or what about the different surgery procedure that I let man discover.  I was just amazed.

I went swimming yesterday and I saw a wheelchair right above lane2. I normally just get in the water when I go to the pool and never look at anybody when they are swimming.  But today, I sat there at lane3 (middle lane) and just watched a man swimming with no legs.  I think he was a Vietnam veteran who lost his leg during the war ( I did not asked him though). Two days ago I was just watching “Life Without Limbs videos” and yesterday I had the privilege to witness in my own eyes how a man without legs perform the same thing that I do.  I am more challenged now.  I am not waiting for a miracle anymore, I am the miracle. We are the miracle – our life is the miracle.

What about you?

Must Love A Brother; Day307

1Jo 2:10  Whoever loves his brother [believer] abides (lives) in the Light, and in It or in him there is no occasion for stumbling or cause for error or sin.

We do have people in our list that are against us.  I think that is human nature.  The root cause “spirit of jealousy”.  People just sometimes go against us for no good reasons other than they are jealous of what we do or what we say or what we write or what we create or what we have or what we’ve been to.  A few months ago, a friend of mine told me that a person was poking at him regarding just about anything and he have to change strategies on this guy.  He almost lost his patience but was able to rebalance himself (biblical way).  He started showing him love, he started saying “good morning” to him and before he went home for the day, he started going to him and tell him “Hey, I’m going home… I’ll see you tomorrow”.  He said, the results were amazing.  If you really want to know if you are a true Christian believer, examine yourself and your relationship to a brother or a sister.  Are you full of hate or are you filled with love. Is there a person that you dislike?  Is there a person that you hate? Is there a person that you have not forgiven?  Bottom line, we cannot confess that we love God and in our little corner hates one person.

Side Note: There is one person that I am trying to reach that I think I offended (you know who you are), please find me because I cannot find you or can’t reach you safely.  If you are a friend to this person, please relay my message.  I cannot die yet until I hear from you.

LOOKING BACK – YESTERDAY
What went well?
1. Life without limbs. I’ve watched and learned a few things about Nick Vujicic who was born without arms and legs.  His story is very inspiring and made me feel content, complete and satisfied with what I have.  I’ve heard so many great stories and listened to good preachers and I’ve read so a few inspirational books but there’s no better inspiration than watching him grow up with his struggles in life and then found him being transformed into being a servant of God.  I’ve organized the links below for simplicity.  Please find time to watch.

2. Grown up son.  On our way home after I picked up my son from school, I had this conversation with Brent in the car; “Dad, what do you think will happen if you put strangers in the middle of the jungle, will they bond together? or will they fight?” I know the answer – strangers will bond together regardless (initially).  I get this type of conversation with my son all the time now.  Sometimes we sit down in the living room just talking just about anything.  He is now growing up and fast. Last year, Ridgeview Middle School administered the Stanford Achievement Test . He was only at the 7th grade last year (12 years old) but all his results was rated PHS (post high school).  I am not into good grades.  I don’t push my kids to get good grades, I only tell them “Stick to your mission at hand” and their mission is to get an education and find a job one day.  His result indicates that he has special skills and I need to plan for it in terms of satisfying his natural ability when it comes to education. One thing I noticed though, he does not show any great efforts in studying.  There are times I watched him just watch tv or play video games when he has homework to do and he always does his school work late at night or close to sleeping time … weird.  I am just curious of what will happen if he mixes LEAN Thinking on his current working habits.  I’ll find ways to influence him one day.

3. Heart Attack Plan: Received a literature in the mail Heart Attack Plan, I just want to share because when it was my time, I did not call 911, I let my wife drove me to the hospital.  Step 0 is call 911 at all cost because when they take you to the hospital, they can administer treatment while in route to the ER.  Also, people need to be educated about the symptoms of a heart attack.  One friend of mine did something foolish, he googled “chest pains” and diagnosed himself.  After 10 minutes, he called 911 because he had all the symptoms.  The story ends with a heart bypass, he was 40.  I think, people need to be aware that heart disease ranks No.1 killer in the US, (someone told me that)

4. Cycling in the rain:  It was fun until I got home and my toes and fingers did not have any blood flow, I have to stay in the shower for 10 minutes to restore hand and toes functionality.  I respect the weather but there is something in me that just love the unknown. I wanted to feel how a 58 degreesF weather and rain feels like and the wind was 15 miles per hour.  I learned my lesson – stay indoors when the weather is bad.  Overall, it was a great 22 miles ride (planned for 30).  Learned so many survival technique along the way ie. don’t over dress when it is raining, I wore my winter clothes underneath my rain jacket, I was soaking wet at the end of the ride, not with rain but sweat.  I’ve learned to watch out for manholes, they are traps.  I learned to love the rain even though it soaks me, it keeps my heart rate down due to less effort.  So why ride in the rain? Because no one rides in the rain.

5. Computer System Health Monitoring:  I want to build my own computer system health monitoring system using the Sysinternals tools only.  I know that there are packages out there that does the same thing but I wanted a simple approach and I also want to learn how to integrate this data into SQL2005 database and then provide a frontend web user interface using Visual Web Developer 2008 Express (all free software).  The motivation is learning and not necessarily functionality but if I get both, then it will be a blessing.  Here’s the MindMap for the design if you want to know how I keep tab on the project. There are two command line utilities that I will be using:
a. psinfo – get computer information from the command line
b. psloglist – dumps the NT Event Log to a text file

As of right now, I don’t have a clear path on how to automate the uploading of these two files to the SQL2005 database. I can use the bcp utility or DTS.  But before I can do that, I need to join the file into 1 large file with one command.

6. PsInfo – Dump system information into a text file
Command – psinfo –h –s –d >systeminfo.txt

7. PsLogList – Dumps the OS event log to a text file
Command – psloglist –s >eventlogdump.txt

LOOKING BACK – YESTERDAY
What went well?

1. Spent time with cc at Celebration
2. Spent time with Brent just talking about his life etc. He wants to get back to Ms. Tongay (piano tutor) and continue tennis (sigh). He said he shined at his computer typing class. He scored 85 words per minute on the typing test.  This boy can type fast.  I saw him set a record of 116wpm a few weeks ago.
3. Started XP Event Log Database project
4. 15Mle cycling around Old Settlers-AW Grimes loop
5. Found an application that can transplant a Windows OS Bootable CD to flash drive – WinToFlash
6. BP now back to normal numbers after being at 150’s due to residual pickle juice in the system
7. Vacuum/mop the whole house in under 30 minutes
8. Played ping-pong with Brent on the Wii, motion sensors on the remote is not realistic, lost so many times due to playing it real
9. Created my own MindMap Visio template, I would like to use it for work because we don’t have access to MindOMO inside the fab

What didn’t go so well?
1. CC asking to go to a movie on a Sunday night (school day – next day), I said NO
2. CC unable to do parallel parking, argued about what she can do when I told her to drive backwards.  Teenage/stubborn kids.  I have to lecture/counsel her…. “when I was your age…”  I am writing a book: “How to Manage a Teenage Daughter Graciously” ;-()
3. Pickup truck shopping at Toyota, cc did not like the Tacoma Crew Cab, have to continue researching my new toy (that she can borrow)
4. Me and Brent setup the ping-pong table in 3 different places in the house – a failure, no space.  We put it back underneath the bed (incubate for now)

What would you do differently next time?
1. None

Conclusion:
1. Discipline works and contagious.  Seen my kids slowly adapting to a more organized approach of life.  Need new strategies in managing my daughter’s unconventional way of testing my patience.

Psa 112:3  Prosperity and welfare are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.
Psalm 112 Full Chapter

I’ve met new friends lately in a special way and I don’t consider that the crossing of our path is an accident or coincidence.  In some grandeur scheme above our comprehension our path crossed somehow with a hidden plan that you and I just don’t know yet.  This happened to me several times and I am now very sensitive in terms of meeting and knowing new friends.  Many times in the past I’ve experienced simple acquaintances turns into a lasting friendship.  Some of my friendship starts with a simple short talk/chit chat and later on become a grown tree of a healthy network of friends. I value any friendship and if our path crossed, there must be a good reason why.  Maybe by now you are wondering about the purpose of our friendship.  I don’t know yet but as we know each other through the years, let us look forward each day on how to cultivate this friendship in a positive way.

I am now older and wiser and my life were filled with good and bad experiences, met a lot of challenges along the way and had been to difficult situations and I wish I’ve known God at a personal level during the early part of my journey in life.  So before we continue our friendship, I would like you (new friends/old friends) to at least take a look at something  that changed my life (for the better) – a personal relationship to God through Christ.  Many of you reading this might be in the mid life and had been enjoying the prosperity of life – having a stable job, good health, kids at school, having a healthy married life, having a well established financial capacity, having a stable mind to face any type of life challenges and so you might think that you don’t really require any more spiritual help.  That’s fine if you think that way but I would like to invite you to take a look at something that might give you a boost in life – Knowing God Personally . Once faith is established in your heart, there are so many surprises that comes with it.  Imagine receiving an insight of every critical decision you make, open doors, job leads, new clients, wisdom, peace, knowledge – you name it, the relationship you established through Him comes with great surprises.  Take for example Psalm 112.3, Prosperity and welfare are in his house – that is a promise once we become a servant of God and a believer.  What more do we need?

Tree Firmly Planted; Day298

Psa 1:1  BLESSED (HAPPY, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather.
Psa 1:2  But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night. [Rom. 13:8-10; Gal. 3:1-29; II Tim. 3:16.]
Psa 1:3  And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity]. [Jer. 17:7, 8.]

There is a personal problem that I am trying to solve and I have not told anyone about it yet.  Maybe one day someone can debug my complicated life and give me some insights on what to do.  I am not expecting anyone to look into it (now that I mention it here because I know my lifeline connection never fails me).  I won’t be needing any counsel because my Counselor is a better counselor that anyone else.  When a person gave his /her life to Christ and start living a life filled with obedience, the people around this person will become agitated, confused, angry, hostile sometimes and not because of what he/she feels but because the enemy (the devil) is mad about what is going on. I know for a fact that the devil is real.  They are around us waiting for us to make mistakes, waiting for us to fall, waiting for us to say a bad and negative comment and point us that we are not who we are-the new creation.  I live through this every minute in my life both work and home and I know that I have to be very careful in my walk so that I may not fall into hypocrisy.  I don’t claim myself to be so perfect, I am trying to be perfect because that is expected from every believer but I am nowhere near perfect. But I will tell you one thing though, I have PEACE inside me deeper than anyone can imagine.  The Word for today explains it all.
Some guidelines to follow:
1. Walk in the counsel of the God (not men) – meaning, don’t consult Wall Street if you want to prosper or don’t lookup ideas built by principles outside the Bible.  Lined it up with the Word and you will never fail or don’t make a critical decision without praying to God.
2. Stay in the pathway of Righteousness (at all times even when your friends and family disown you)
3. Meditate on His Word day and night (know–>believe—>then apply)

The end results-imagine a tree with auto drip of tiny water going to the roots, the tree is healthy and there will be fruits coming from that tree.
The key thing is prosperity, everything he does prosper.  Can you imagine that? Whatever endeavor you are undertaking, may it be a simple lowly business of yours or an impossible dream that you are contemplating or a small retirement project that you are planning for life or a future job that you’ve been looking/waiting.  I’ve seen a tiny bit of this and I am always have a “WOW” word when it happens.  There is one for you, search for it.

Place for Me; Day297; Outlaw 100 Bike Ride

Joh 14:2  In My Father’s house there are many dwelling places (homes). If it were not so, I would have told you; for I am going away to prepare a place for you.
John 14 Full Chapter

I will be riding the Outlaw 100 bike ride today.  I am planning to ride the 100-mile route. I’ve been back in training since Day20 on my cardiac rehab.  I am on Day 297 today since my heart attack (20081222) and to all my mothers out there (I have a few, 1 in CA-Elie) , don’t worry about me because I am always wearing a heart rate monitor and I have cell phone with me and plus there are sag wagons (cars that will pick me up in time of distress).  Last night before I went to bed, my 13 year old son Brent went to my bedroom and asked me, “Dad, do you think your heart is ready for this?”.  I sensed right away that he is worried about me about what I am going to do and how my heart will react to a long distance endurance ride; I just look at him straight and gave him a hug and told him to sleep beside me.  We ended up recapping our bonding time today at the tennis court.  So far, there are only two people in my life that was so thoughtful of me and I appreciate that.  A friend of mine in CA specifically talked to me about my physical capacity in general and it feels really good that someone out there is thinking.  The reason why I put my body in this situation has nothing to do with my ego.  No, I am not doing this to show off to the world and be proud of it.  The only reason why I am doing this is to prove to the world that it can be done… that one can have a full time time job, be a parent and still have time for training.  As my heart permits, I will be doing this type of activities the rest of my life.  I started this serious cycling program since 1999 and it has been a great help to me as a stress relief and an diversion in life.  People like to do other things in life aside from work and this is my way of doing it and I love doing it.   I am not sure of the outcome today because things have changed 297 days ago but I will try my best to be safe and know when to give up when my heart shows signs of trouble,  This is not the first time that I dive into unfamiliar activities. I remember in 2006 when I signed up for my first 5K swim race and I’ve trained only for 1 year before racing.  It was a journey into the unknown that makes the activity more interesting.  Yes, the journey into the unknown is mostly the fuel of our life.  When we don’t know what is out there, what waits us at the finish line, can we make it there? Will I make it to the next mile?  But one thing I know for sure, there is a place for me waiting somewhere… a place they call special.

I will be carrying my cell phone in my back pocket so if want to check on me, feel free to call/text me 512-786-4157 or you can just write in my FB wall and I will get alerted.  I don’t need encouragement or anything like that, but your conversation will surely help me get through the depression after Mile 50 and above.  Yes, depression sets in sometimes because our body gets tried and sometimes the doubt set in.  I’ve experienced this on almost every long distance ride but it is perfectly normal but once you reach the finish line, it feels like nothing else better.  It is 56 degrees F in Round Rock and that is cold in my book but if you look at the wind speed below, not even 10MPH all day which is really a perfect day for a long ride.

Time to execute the plans.

Inner Strength; Day295

Psa 138:3  In the day when I called, You answered me; and You strengthened me with strength (might and inflexibility to temptation) in my inner self.

So true.  He answered all my call but not just answered but strengthened me when I am so weak.  There are times in life that we needed someone who can uplift us and carry us through the storm.  I love the idea that whenever I need someone to comfort me and help me, He is always there without fail.  But how do I know that He is there? When you experience inner peace and inner strength, that is an indication that He answered your call.  Yes, there is no physical evidence that He is there but the fact alone that you experience a peace of mind is enough to say that God indeed responded to our call and with peace in our heart comes an enormous inner strength to carry us to the next destination.

Why Wait?; Day293

Isa 30:18  And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

Isa 30:18  And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]! [John 14:3, 27; II Cor. 12:9; Heb. 12:2; I John 3:16; Rev. 3:5.]

Why wait?  Because when we wait, we are blessed.  There are so many things that happened when we wait.  Everything is this world is in some type of a process.  Call it  a cooking process or an incubation process.  When we wait, something in the background is being done and most of the time when we don’t wait, the process is interrupted.  This interruption is the result of our impatience.  We want things done right away and then we get this half-baked product, the result are not as good as the desired finish product.  In real life, this half-bake product showed up us failures, uncertainties and undesirable effect which makes our lives more complicated than it used to be.  I’ve seen so many times that people tend to rush critical decision making.  Decision making should go through a series of steps and then on the last step, spend time incubating before making the final decision.

Waiting patiently produces a refined product.

When In Trouble …;Day292

Psa 50:15  Let your voice come up to me in the day of trouble; I will be your saviour, so that you may give glory to me.

When in trouble, what do you do?  This is a very hard question because it is so general and the scope is so wide especially if you ask this type of question that pertains to a lifetime mistake or a decision failure that cascades into several minor issues.  One thing leads to another and the more you face the trouble/problem, the deeper the hole you dug for yourself….  that you cannot get out or pull yourself out from the pit. Imagine yourself inside a deep dry well, there is no rope, there is no ladder, there is no way for you to get out from the situation, what will be your exit strategy? As I mentioned before, I am helping friends recover from difficult situations, job loss, relationship problems, divorce, financial problems, marital problems, teen problems, health problems, work related problems and I honestly provided them with some wisdom just to get started on the recovery process.  Sometimes, I brainstormed with them on what to do, what’s the next step, what are other options available.  However, there are times that I feel guilty of not really telling them one thing when trouble comes and that is Psalm 50:15.  There are only a few friends that I can say Psalm 50:15 directly/openly because when people does not believe what you believed, they will just look at you like you are crazy and out of this world.

My day job is to fix problems (electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, electronics, computers, networking), some problems are easy to fix and some are just so complicated and there are times that I face difficult problems with no solutions in sight.  Lately, we were mandated to write a standard operating procedure so that when the same problem arise, we have a procedure to follow (LEAN-Standardized Work).  That is a great idea, any one can just read the procedure and fix the problem.  I started writing one last week and as I gathered all the screen capture and inserted the pictures to the procedure, I questioned ‘myself what if the situation is slightly different?’ What shall I put when a situation in step1 is not what I expected to be in the procedure.  I was not able to continue my documentation and left it unfinished for now. Same thing with life, people attempted to write HOWTO’s, recovery books, self help books, articles on how to recover financially, articles on how to survive a life disaster, there are so many out there and I’ve read a few.  My favorite book long time ago was Dale Carnegie’sHow to Stop Worrying and Start Living”.  (phrases like “… “if you have a lemon, make a lemonade” “today is a new life”, “everyday is a brand new day”, “live in day tight compartments”.  I did not have time to researched Dale Carnegie and his personal background but his writings are inspirational and uplifting.  Amazingly, he wrote “The perfect way to conquer worry-PRAYER.  If I am given the chance to republish his book, I would place Psalm 50:15 on the cover and the first page will look like this:

STEP 0
I know that you are in a hurry to read my book “How To Stop Worrying and Start Living” but before you do that, I want you to go somewhere where it is very dark and quite (a closet will do fine) and I want you to cry to GOD and offload anything that bothers you.  Talk to God all the tiny details of your trouble and be very specific.  Ask questions, talk to Him as though he is there beside you.  When the crying begins, keep crying until there is no more tears left in your eyes.  When you ran out of words, just sit still and start talking in your mind.  Be very sensitive in all the things that comes to mind.  Those are the words that is coming from the Holy Spirit.  Listen to those words as if it is planted inside your heart.

STEP 0.0
Repeat STEP 0 everyday until you die.

In short, when in trouble, PRAY … because He said He is our Savior and He wants us to glorify Him after the storm (not us being glorified because we are so smart)

MADESTRONG; Day290

Psa 80:15  [Protect and maintain] the stock which Your right hand planted, and the branch (the son) that You have reared and made strong for Yourself.
Psa 80:16  They have burned it with fire, it is cut down; may they perish at the rebuke of Your countenance.
Psa 80:17  Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, upon the son of man whom You have made strong for Yourself.
Read Psalm 80 – Full Chapter

I’ve been wearing a LIVESTRONG yellow rubber band in my right and a purple band from Celebration Church for quite sometime now.  The LIVESTRONG band represents living strong.  Just go to their website and read more there.  The purple band was given out by Celebration Church long time ago and I can still remember that excitement we had (Me, Brent and Brittney) when we got it because the inscription of the purple band was CELEBRATION-MIRACLE.  As of right now, me and Brent are still wearing it everyday and you will see that in some of our pictures.  I am not into material things (gold and silver apparel but I am wearing this one just because it carries a great message). Yesterday, before our morning meeting and the facilitator was still logging on, my boss finally asked me “What’s the purple band about?  My answer-It was from our church.  It was a short answer but I think it sends a message and it answers a lot of questions that has been lingering in my colleague’s mind of who I am internally (my core).  People are curious and nosy but they don’t really show that often but reading about it in a journal makes the revealing process less transparent and less invasive.  I don’t know who reads this journal and I don’t really care who reads this and this journal is not strictly written for a specific person nor I intend this to be my show case.  So now that you are reading it (boring most of the time), might as well follow this …. because this journal is getting interesting.  NOT

OK, MADESTRONG!  How did I came up with that today?  I pulled my devotional calendar and saw Psalm 80-15-17.  I was confused and could not understand why King David wrote this.  This is before Jesus was born.  I read the full chapter and found that he was talking about the vineyard and the true vine (which is in his future – Christ)  I was still confused after reading the full chapter and could not come up with a “one phrase” summary.  Then out of nowhere, the word “MADESTRONG” just popped up.  I search the Bible for the phrase “made strong” and there were 31 citing in both old and new testament.  I highlighted (bolded) the made strong words for you and I want you to read each line of verse.  After reading the 31 verses below, I concluded that being MADESTRONG is better than LIVESTRONG because MADESTRONG, I don’t have to do anything, He already made me strong.  Living strong, I still have to do something for myself.  Maybe in the future, I will create my own wrist band called MADESTRONG.

(1Sa 24:20)  And now I am certain that you will be king, and that the kingdom of Israel will be made strong under your authority.
(2Sa 7:24)  But you took and made strong for yourself your people Israel, to be your people for ever; and you, Lord, became their God.
(2Sa 7:26)  And let your name be made great for ever, and let men say, The Lord of armies is God over Israel: and let the family of David your servant be made strong before you!
(1Ch 17:24)  So let your words be made certain and your name be made great, when men say, The Lord of armies is the God of Israel; and when the family of David your servant is made strong before you.
(2Ch 17:12)  Jehoshaphat became greater and greater, and made strong towers and store-towns in Judah.
(2Ch 32:5)  Then he took heart, building up the wall where it was broken down, and making its towers higher, and building another wall outside; and he made strong the Millo in the town of David, and got together a great store of all sorts of instruments of war.
(Ezr 7:28)  And has given mercy to me before the king and his government and before all the king’s great captains. And I was made strong by the hand of the Lord my God which was on me, and I got together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.
(Psa 24:2)  For by him it was based on the seas, and made strong on the deep rivers.
(Psa 80:15)  Even to the tree which was planted by your right hand, and to the branch which you made strong for yourself.
(Psa 80:17)  Let your hand be on the man of your right hand, on the son of man whom you made strong for yourself.
(Psa 89:2)  For you have said, Mercy will be made strong for ever; my faith will be unchanging in the heavens.
(Psa 147:13)  He has made strong the iron bands of your doors; he has sent blessings on your children inside your walls.
(Pro 8:28)  When he made strong the skies overhead: when the fountains of the deep were fixed:
(Pro 24:3)  The building of a house is by wisdom, and by reason it is made strong:
(Pro 25:5)  Take away evil-doers from before the king, and the seat of his power will be made strong in righteousness.
(Isa 9:11)  For this cause the Lord has made strong the haters of Israel, driving them on to make war against him;
(Isa 28:22)  And now, take care that you do not make sport of him, or your bands will be made strong; for I have had word from the Lord, the Lord of armies, of an end, of a complete end, which is to come on all the land.
(Mat 8:31)  And the evil spirits made strong prayers to him, saying, If you send us out, let us go into the herd of pigs.
(Mat 15:31)  So that the people were full of wonder when they saw that those who had no voice were talking, the feeble were made strong, those whose bodies were broken had the power of walking, and the blind were able to see: and they gave glory to the God of Israel.
(Mar 5:10)  And he made strong prayers to him not to send them away out of the country.
(Mar 5:23)  And made strong prayers to him, saying, My little daughter is near to death: it is my prayer that you will come and put your hands on her, so that she may be made well, and have life.
(Act 9:31)  And so the church through all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was made strong; and, living in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, was increased greatly.
(Act 12:5)  So Peter was kept in prison: but the church made strong prayer to God for him.
(Act 16:5)  So the churches were made strong in the faith and were increased in number every day.
(Rom 1:11)  For I have a strong desire to see you, and to give you some grace of the spirit, so that you may be made strong;
(Rom 4:20)  Still, he did not give up faith in the undertaking of God, but was made strong by faith, giving glory to God,
(Phm 1:7)  For I had great joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been made strong again through you, brother.
(Heb 11:34)  Put out the power of fire, got safely away from the edge of the sword, were made strong when they had been feeble, became full of power in war, and put to flight the armies of the nations.
(Heb 12:12)  For this cause let the hands which are hanging down be lifted up, and let the feeble knees be made strong,
(Heb 12:13)  And make straight roads for your feet, so that the feeble may not be turned out of the way, but may be made strong.
(Heb 13:9)  Do not be turned away by different strange teachings, because it is good for your hearts to be made strong by grace, and not by meats, which were of no profit to those who took so much trouble over them.

One Way Gift; Day289

Eph 2:8  For it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God;
Eph 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Read Full Chapter of Ephesians 2

Grace – gift of God to humankind: in Christianity, the infinite love, mercy, favor, and goodwill shown to humankind by God
Faith – belief in and devotion to God, trust in somebody or something, especially without legal proof

I’ve been approached the other day by someone not close to me yet and he said, “What are you?  What’s in you?  You are different?  You don’t seem to get bothered by the turmoil of the daily pressure? My answer was simple and short, I believe in something that is guiding me everyday, whispering me what to do or what to say or how to react.  Then he keep asking “What do you mean?”  I told him I read and study the Bible everyday and everything I read from the Bible, I have to believe it and better yet, execute or take actions.  Then the conversation turned around when he told me, “I was once a believer” and started pouring me his struggles in life, family and religion at home.  First I learned about his financial problems then later his wife then his 3 year old kid then his mom and dad’s problems.  It turned out he is has been in difficult situation lately and he lost his faith.  Then he asked me, “How long you’ve been a Christian?” I said greater than 10 years, then he said, “me too but somehow along the way with life’s ups and downs, I lost it”

The word “I lost it” means he lost the faith.  Faith is the simple connection to the gift of God.  Without faith, we cannot connect to God.  There is something that is bothering me for sometimes now and if I don’t use my faith to strengthen me and connect me with God, all my works, all my efforts and all my inspiration is gone. I struggle everyday in my faith and in my walk with God because I am constantly in the battlefield.  I see people, I interact with people, I talk to people and I react to people and it seems like every time I open my mouth and say something, there is always this “behind the back question’ Is Rigel for real?’  I don’t really know but all I know that every morning right after waking up, I have to rejoice and thank God for allowing me to wake up again and repeat my daily routines.  Such a joy in my heart to be able to get up another morning and start a brand new day.  Me too, I lost it many times but I usually go back right away and backtrack where I’ve been and correct my course.  I don’t normally wait for a day to regroup and I am talking about an everyday regrouping of my faith and beliefs.  I have to do this or I will die spiritually.

Why one way gift?  We don’t give gifts to God, He gave us the gift.  All we have to do is receive it.  Open our arms and like a baby, just grab the gift that He gave us.  That simple.  Just receive it and there is no requirement that hey, I have to change myself, tame my tongue, or clean my act to receive the gift, in short it is a one way gift and we cannot give back to Him.  But how do we receive the gift? Well, the gift He gave us is invisible, you cannot see it, so therefore you have to receive it by faith.  In simple term, believe it.  Believe that He has given us something.  How exciting is that every day expecting a gift that we don’t see.  I want you to take the same journey that I am on every day.  Look for special gifts every day from heaven, it’s there, you just have to open your eyes and ears.  One rule, you can only receive the gift, there is no need for you to return a favor to Him. In the simplest form, that is the Christian faith.

24/7 Being Heard; Day288; Virtual Server 2005

Psa 6:8  Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping. [Matt. 7:23; Luke 13:27.]
Psa 6:9  The Lord has heard my supplication; the Lord receives my prayer.

Health Log: I got up early in the morning yesterday (as normal, 0430h) and do the same routines as stated in my daily journal.  Everything was normal and even beyond normal that my body had a little bit of extra energy.  I’ve added dumbbell curls 15llbs for 2 minutes and 25lbs for 1 minute after my cycling workout.  After arriving at work, I went inside the Fab and sat in the morning meeting from night shift.  As I was just sitting and listening to the meeting, my left chest started to pound with erratic beat like lab dab, then lab dab dab, lab dab dab, then lab dab and it lasted for several minutes.  My breathing feels normal and I checked my pulse and it was at 56bpm with normal rhythm.  I placed my right hand on my left chest and I could feel the flesh was bouncing up and down as the irregular heartbeat continues to manifest  (most likely muscle twitch and not my heart).  Fast forward.. after 10 hours of working, I was still alive and the abnormal heartbeat disappeared.  I am writing this information just so my future cardiologist (either Brittney or Brent) can learn from this later just in case something happens to me in a few days (cardio wise).  I am living with a life extension and I don’t trust my body anymore.  My body failed me last year even when I thought that 2009 was my best year ever in terms of cycling and swimming accomplishments.  As of this writing, everything is normal and my vitals are within spec.

Share: I’ve acquired a low cost Dell Poweredge 2850 lately and my original plan was to migrate all my Hyper-V virtual machines to this box to make it as the production server (part of my retirement project) because it has more power, more bandwidth and runs x64.  Then in the process of migration, I realized that the 2850 cannot run Hyper-V because the processor does not support hardware virtualization.  It is a x64 cpu but not designed for hyper-v.  So in order for me to continue on my project, I have to settle for Virtual Server 2005 R2 and it does the work just fine.  A guy from MSDN wrote the blog below to help me deploy the Virtual Server.

Singing In Bed; Day286

Psa 149:4  For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation and adorn the wretched with victory.
Psa 149:5  Let the saints be joyful in the glory and beauty [which God confers upon them]; let them sing for joy upon their beds.

Charity Ending; Day285

2Pe 1:10  Because of this, brethren, be all the more solicitous and eager to make sure (to ratify, to strengthen, to make steadfast) your calling and election; for if you do this, you will never stumble or fall.
2Pe 1:10  For this reason, my brothers, take all the more care to make your selection and approval certain; for if you do these things you will never have a fall:

The end result of our faith is charity (and should be charity) if not then our faith failed or we did not posses the true faith. Read 2 Peter 1 Full Chapter

I am confused about my calling, I know I have one, each one of us are called.  I know that I saw this vision before of what it is that I am called for but it bothers me that some pieces of the puzzle are missing.  Will I consider this a “stop signal” or a “wait signal” or a “be patient signal”.  I don’t know anymore.  I want to do something, I have the faith but I don’t have the cooperation of the people around me.  Do I need to wait or shall I proceed?  If you know what I am talking about, please drop me a message. In the mean time, journey with me to step 7. I am looking for partners in this long journey.

Dried Tears; Day284

Rev 21:4  God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more, neither shall there be anguish (sorrow and mourning) nor grief nor pain any more, for the old conditions and the former order of things have passed away. [Isa. 25:8; 35:10.]
Psa 107:28  Then they cry to the Lord in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses.
Psa 107:29  He hushes the storm to a calm and to a gentle whisper, so that the waves of the sea are still. [Ps. 89:9; Matt. 8:26.]
Psa 107:30  Then the men are glad because of the calm, and He brings them to their desired haven.

I am reposting Praise You In The Storm here because it fits to the Word of the Day. I’ve been in the crossroad lately, actually me and my wife and my daughter are in the middle of indecision.  Brittney, my 16 years old just got her driver’s license a month ago and now the idea of getting a car for her comes up all the time.  Will you trust your 16 years old out there in the open?  Homeostasis-resistance to change (that’s where I am right now, my family in general). Life is good, every corner under my management at home is just so perfect and I have no headaches or big problems.  I can’t imagine myself going through a teen driver crisis and that is why I hold off as much as I could of getting her a car.  I also believe that sometimes we have to get out from our comfort zone and be brave out there.  My wife thinks that I am too stiff of my decision making, that I made up my mind too strong that no one can change it.  Not so, actually, I think my daughter will get her car sooner than we think (after a heavenly confirmation).

I have to mention the teen driver situation because yesterday when I passed by at Shoreline Christian Center, I had a teary eyes thinking about how Pastor Rob (about my age) dealt his losses, first his dad died in a boating accident and then a week later, his 16-year old son wrecked his car and died.  Pastor Rob’s faith been tested beyond comprehension, how do you recover from those kind of losses.  The Philippines lately experienced a horrible series of storms, the pictures of the devastation are so shocking but encouraging. Encouraging in a sense that people are helping people.  Typical Filipino trait, seldom you see that in other countries.  I was in the Ormoc flood in 1991 and I saw the same thing that I’ve seen lately in the news.  People helping people.  Now switching gears at my circle, lately, I’ve been helping out friends who lost their job.  The economy is already hard for those who have a steady job, how much more to those who still have to look for one.  One friend of mine, has 5 kids, wife was not working (to take care of the kids) and then the husband lost his job.  The family lost more than a paycheck, they lost a security blanket over them.  How do you overcome that? Another close friend of mine who is separated from his wife for >8 years to provide for his family and lately had been suffering from physical problems with no wife or child to comfort him, how do you deal with that?

In short, we have tears in every corner of this life. Some has less and some just happened to be well selected to suffer.  I mentioned ‘selected’ because when you have the most amount of tears, you are more glorified in the end.  Friends sometimes asked me difficult questions “Why it is me?” Why do I have to suffer? Why others are just living a good life everyday and me … always in a roller coaster of defeat and suffering. The correct answer is “I don’t know” but I know that God will wipe away every tears in ours eyes one day.  I will keep trusting Him no matter what. I hope that you will too.  Be encourage!  Our tears will evaporate one day.

Welcome Mrs. Fredelita Kong, Abing, Gene and wife, Girlie in my Facebook.

Better Than Gold; Day279

1Pe 1:7  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
1Pe 1:7  So that [the genuineness] of your faith may be tested, [your faith] which is infinitely more precious than the perishable gold which is tested and purified by fire. [This proving of your faith is intended] to redound to [your] praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) is revealed.

Pro 3:25  Be not afraid of sudden terror and panic, nor of the stormy blast or the storm and ruin of the wicked when it comes [for you will be guiltless],
Pro 3:26  For the Lord shall be your confidence, firm and strong, and shall keep your foot from being caught [in a trap or some hidden danger].

Joh 12:26  If anyone serves Me, he must continue to follow Me [to cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying] and wherever I am, there will My servant be also. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.

Joy of Persecution; Day271

Mat 5:11  Blessed (happy, to be envied, and spiritually prosperous–with life-joy and satisfaction in God’s favor and salvation, regardless of your outward conditions) are you when people revile you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things against you falsely on My account.
Mat 5:12  Be glad and supremely joyful, for your reward in heaven is great (strong and intense), for in this same way people persecuted the prophets who were before you. [II Chron. 36:16.]
