Invisible Shelter; Day465

The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand [the side not carrying a shield]. The sun shall not smite you by day, nor the moon by night. [Ps. 91:5; Isa. 49:10; Rev. 7:16.] The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore. [Deut. 28:6; Prov. 2:8; 3:6.]  Psalm121:5-8

For You have been a stronghold for the poor, a stronghold for the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm, a shade from the heat; for the blast of the ruthless ones is like a rainstorm against a wall. [Isa. 25:4.]

No One Like Jehovah [listen]
God of Abraham, God of Isaac, God of Jacob
Elo-him, Adonai, God who answers by fire
Glorify Your Son, Jesus Christ, the true Messiah
Breathe on us, send us out, in the spirit of Elijah

CHANNEL:
The sick are healed, the blind can see
The cripples dance, the demons flee
At the name of Jesus, every knee will bow
The dead are raised, the deaf can hear
As we proclaim, “The Kingdom is here”
At the name of Jesus, every tongue will shout
CHORUS:

There is no one like our God
There is no one like Jehovah, You are…
Worthy forever…worthy
VERSE 2:

Jesus Christ, the same, yesterday, today, forever
King of kings, Lord of lords, only Son of the Living God
Rise up in Your Bride, show Your power, show Your glory
Breathe on us, send us out, in the spirit of Elijah

TAG:
There is no one like You
There is no one like You
There is no one like You, Jesus…

Rule and Peace-No End; Day464

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of [his] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Everyone Searching; Day455

By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as [in] a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker [is] God. Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, [so many] as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable. These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of [them], and embraced [them], and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. And truly, if they had been mindful of that [country] from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. But now they desire a better [country], that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

For which cause we do not give way to weariness; but though our outer man is getting feebler, our inner man is made new day by day.  For our present trouble, which is only for a short time, is working out for us a much greater weight of glory;  While our minds are not on the things which are seen, but on the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are for a time; but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2Corinthians 4-16-18

Effect of the Word of God; Day447

And for this cause it is through him that a new agreement has come into being, so that after the errors under the first agreement had been taken away by his death, the word of God might have effect for those who were marked out for an eternal heritage. Hebrews 9:15

Infinite Compassion; Day440; Quick Reference Guide

In a little burst of wrath I hid My face from you for a moment, but with age-enduring love and kindness I will have compassion and mercy on you, says the Lord, your Redeemer. Isaiah 54:8

Your grace it rescues me
Your mercy goes much deeper
Farther than I can see

I reach for Your when I’m going under
I wait for You Jesus You’re my life-line

How could I leave the shelter of Your hand

Purpose of our Trials; Day439; Shekinah/Adonai

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort;  Who gives us comfort in all our troubles, so that we may be able to give comfort to others who are in trouble, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we undergo more of the pain which Christ underwent, so through Christ does our comfort become greater.  2Corinthians 1:3-5

Adonai [listen]
Lord of eternity
The mystery behind the veil
Lord over Heaven and earth
God of Israel
Come with Your wisdom and power
Clothed in Your honor and strength
Lord hear the cry of our hearts
Come O conquering King
And every eye will see
Your glory fill the sky

Adonai Adonai
Every knee will bow to You Lord Most High
Adonai Adonai
You alone are God every tongue will cry
Adonai

Here Jerusalem waits
Praises lifted on high
Here the beautiful gates
Long to see You arise
When all of Zion sings
Baruch ha ba b’shem
You are the Lord over all the earth
You are the Lord over all the earth

Adonai-“Lord, lord, Lord, master or owner”

XAEBGAC : 4.16.2 – The Abiding Presence of God
4.16.2 – The Abiding Presence of God

At the heart of the idea of a Temple[XAFACHD] is the abiding presence of God.  Although God is omnipresent, He has chosen to manifest His presence in certain locations and at certain times within history. This physical manifestation of God has come to be called the Shekinah. the Shechinah Glory[XAFACGG] is the visible manifestation of the presence of God. It is the majestic presence or manifestation of God in which He descends to dwell among men. Whenever the invisible God becomes visible, and whenever the omnipresence of God is localized, this is the Shechinah Glory. The usual title found in Scriptures for the Shechinah Glory is the glory of Jehovah, or the glory of the Lord. The Hebrew form is Kvod Adonai, which means ‘the glory of Jehovah’ and describes what the Shechinah Glory is. The Greek title, Doxa Kurion, is translated as ‘the glory of the Lord.’ Doxa means ‘brightness,’ ‘brilliance,’ or ‘splendor,’ and it depicts how the Shechinah Glory appears. Other titles give it the sense of ‘dwelling,’ which portrays what the Shechinah Glory does. The Hebrew word Shechinah, from the root shachan, means ‘to dwell.’ The Greek word skeinei, which is similar in sound as the Hebrew Shechinah (Greek has no ‘sh’ sound), means ‘to tabernacle[XAFACGI].’. . . In the Old Testament, most of these visible manifestations took the form of light, fire, or cloud, or a combination of these. A new form appears in the New Testament: the Incarnate Word [Joh_1:14]. 1

The concept of the Shekinah is behind the wonder of the incarnation. The very glory of God "tabernacled" within human flesh and was handled and beheld. "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (ἐσκήνωσεν [eskēnōsen]), and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth" [emphasis added] (Joh_1:14).

Σκηνή [Skēnē] was the word used by the translators of the Septuagint[XAFACGE] for the Hebrew מִשְׁכָּן [mishkkān], "tabernacle" (Exo_25:9). During Israel’s pilgrimage from Egypt to Canaan the tabernacle was the place of worship for the people. The tabernacle or tent in the wilderness was the "tent of Jehovah," Himself a pilgrim among His pilgrim people. In sound and meaning σκηνόω [skēnoō] recalls the Hebrew verb שָׁכַּן [shākkan] meaning "to dwell," which is sometimes used of God’s dwelling with Israel (Exo_25:8; Exo_29:46). In postbiblical Hebrew the Jews used the term שְׁכִינָה [shekînāh] ("Shekinah," literally, "presence") of the bright cloud of the presence of God that settled on the tabernacle. The Shekinah glory was nothing less than the visible manifestation of God.2

The manifestation of the Shekinah is at the heart of understanding the meeting of God with man. In the earliest communion of man with God, God is said to have been "walking in the Garden in the cool of the day" (Gen_3:8). This must speak of a localized presence with which Adam and Eve could interact–the Shekinah. The word itself embodies the notion of dwelling or abiding. This emphasizes the single most important aspect concerning God’s localized presence: where is He abiding?  For wherever the Shekinah is, there is relationship with God in a more intimate way and all the benefits which come from His special presence. This is the essence of the promise made to the overcomer in Philadelphia, the fulfillment of that first love which was lacking in Ephesus: to walk once again in full fellowship with God (Gen_3:8; Gen_5:24; Rev_21:3, Rev_21:22). This was the ultimate desire of the psalmist (Psa_23:6; Psa_65:4). Thus, it is an incredible blessing to enjoy the presence of God.

This was the primary purpose of the Temple throughout history: to house the Shekinah glory of God among men. It is in the Temple there where God’s presence "dwells between the cherubim" over the mercy seat of the Ark of the Covenant (Exo_25:22; Num_7:89; 1Sa_4:4; 2Sa_6:2; 1Ki_7:29; 2Ki_19:15; 1Ch_13:6; 2Ch_5:7; 2Ch_6:41; Psa_80:1; Psa_99:1; Isa_37:16; Eze_41:18). Unless the glory of God "inhabits" the Temple (1Ki_8:10-11; 2Ch_7:1; Eze_43:2-4; Eze_44:1-2; Hag_2:7-9; Mat_20:12) it is just a dead architectural edifice.3

Conversely, in the history of the Temple, there are grave consequences when the Shekinah departs from the Temple, for it indicates God’s displeasure with those among whom He previously dwelt and the removal of His protection and blessing in His departure.  The Temple, the house of Israel, is left desolate when the glory of God departs. In at least two occasions in history, the result has been the destruction of the Temple. When the Shekinah left Solomon’s Temple[XAEBGAFAD] in the days of Ezekiel’s prophecy (Eze_10:18; Eze_11:22-23), the eventual result was the destruction of the Temple by Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. When the Shekinah left the Second Temple[XAEBGAFAE] in the days of Jesus (Mat_23:38), the eventual result was the destruction of the Temple by Titus Vespasian of Rome (Mat_24:1-3). Whether God remains in His house is serious business!

Although it is beyond the scope of our treatment here to consider an extensive discussion of God’s abiding presence, it will be helpful to note some of the most significant historical events related to the Shekinah.4 The Shekinah glory:5

Illuminated the earth prior to the creation of the sun and moon (Gen_1:3, Gen_1:14).
Walked with Adam and Eve in the Garden (Gen_3:8).
Ratified the Abrahamic covenant while Abraham slept (Gen_15:17).
Descended upon Mount Sinai at the giving of the law (Exo_19:18; Exo_24:15-16; Exo_33:18-23).
Filled the Tabernacle in the wilderness (Exo_40:34).
Filled Solomon’s Temple upon its dedication (1Ki_8:10-11; 2Ch_7:1).
Left Solomon’s Temple due to Israel’s sin (Eze_8:4-6; Eze_9:3; Eze_10:4, Eze_10:18-19; Eze_11:22-23). The Temple is left unprotected.
Returned to the Second Temple in the form of the incarnation of Messiah Jesus (Mat_12:6; Mat_21:12; Joh_1:14; Joh_2:15).
Left the Second Temple desolate upon the departure of Jesus (Mat_23:38; Mat_24:2; Luk_13:35; Luk_21:6). The Temple is left unprotected.
Appeared on the Mount of Transfiguration (Mat_17:2; Mar_9:2; Luk_9:29).
Appeared to Paul on the road to Damascus (Act_9:3; Act_22:11; Act_26:13; 1Ti_6:16).
Will return to the Millennial Temple[XAFACDJ] (Isa_60:3; Eze_43:2-4).
Illuminates the New Jerusalem[XAEBGAFBB] (Rev_21:23; Rev_22:5).

The significance of the Mount of Olives derives from it association with the departure and arrival of the glory of the Lord:

The mountain which is so clearly defined and located in this prophecy [Zec_14:4] is already associated with many events and crises in Israel’s history. . . it was from this mountain, which is before Jerusalem on the east, that the prophet Ezekiel saw the glory of Jehovah finally taking its departure. It was from this mountain also that He, who was not only the symbol, but the living personal revelation of the glory of Jehovah, finally took His departure from the land, after He had been rejected by the nation. He led His handful of disciples out as far as Bethany (on the Mount of Olives), and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. ‘And it came to pass while He blessed them, He was parted from them, and carried up to heaven’ [Luk_24:50-51; Act_1:1-26;Act_9:1-43]; since then a still darker era in the long Ichabod period of Israel’s history commenced. . . . And what is this but a prophecy in symbolic language of the same event which the heavenly messengers announced to the men of Galilee [Act_1:9-11]. We love to think that this same mountain on which He once shed tears of sorrow over Jerusalem, the slope of which witnessed His agony and bloody sweat, shall be the first also to witness His manifestation in glory; and that His blessed feet, which in the days of His flesh walked wearily over this mountain on the way to Bethany shall, ‘in that day,’ be planted here in triumph and majesty.6

In summary, the Shekinah is the visible representation of the localized presence of God. By God’s design, the Temple is the location where His abiding presence is intended to dwell and where He has put His name (Deu_12:5, Deu_12:11, Deu_12:21; 2Ch_6:20; 2Ch_7:16; 2Ch_20:19; Ezr_6:12; Neh_1:9; Mat_21:13; Mar_11:17; Luk_19:46).

Love of the Father; Day437

For the Father himself gives his love to you, because you have given your love to me and have had faith that I came from God. I came out from the Father and have come into the world: again, I go away from the world and go to the Father. His disciples said, Now you are talking clearly and not in veiled language. Now we are certain that you have knowledge of all things and have no need for anyone to put questions to you: through this we have faith that you came from God. Jesus made answer, Have you faith now?  See, a time is coming, yes, it is now here, when you will go away in all directions, every man to his house, and I will be by myself: but I am not by myself, because the Father is with me. I have said all these things to you so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble: but take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:27-33

Secret Wisdom; Day436

And when I came to you, my brothers, I did not come with wise words of knowledge, putting before you the secret of God. For I had made the decision to have knowledge of nothing among you but only of Jesus Christ on the cross.  And I was with you without strength, in fear and in doubt. And in my preaching there were no honeyed words of wisdom, but I was dependent on the power of the Spirit to make it clear to you: So that your faith might be based not on man’s wisdom but on the power of God. But still we have wisdom for those who are complete in knowledge, though not the wisdom of this world, and not of the rulers of this world, who are coming to nothing: But we give the news of the secret wisdom of God, which he had kept in store before the world came into existence, for our glory; Of which not one of the rulers of this world had knowledge: for if they had, they would not have put the Lord of glory on the cross: But as it says in the holy Writings, Things which the eye saw not, and which had not come to the ears or into the heart of man, such things as God has made ready for those who have love for him.  1Corintians 2:1-9

Unchanging Strong Base; Day434

But the firm foundation of (laid by) God stands, sure and unshaken, bearing this seal (inscription): The Lord knows those who are His, and, Let everyone who names [himself by] the name of the Lord give up all iniquity and stand aloof from it. [Num. 16:5; Isa. 26:13.] 2Ti 2:19

I went out today for a 32Mile bike ride outside and I did not expect the the rain in the middle of the cold ride.  It was tough considering I did not bring my rain jacket with me.  Overall, it was a great ride with headphones in my ear playing Extravagant Worship. Wish my training partner was present.

PROBLEM: DeLonghi EC155 Espresso Machine no hot water-FIX: Fix loose connector [red terminal]. This machine has been used daily since August 2009 and it died a few days ago.  I have to downgrade to my old drip coffee maker for a one day but never like the taste of brewed coffee.  Today, I called DeLongi customer service and they are sending me a new unit but I have to cut off the cord of my old unit and send it in with a $15.00 check for shipping.  As soon as I sent in the cord, I felt like I had the freedom to take the unit apart [unit is already broken-nothing to lose] . After a few minutes of figuring out how to even see the inside, I managed to pry the unit open.  Did all my wiring inspections and found one terminal that was loose.  The reason why the heater was not turning on is because the thermostat reported an OK temperature [green LED].  The logic of the machine is when the OK LED is on, turn off the heater.  I fix the false OK and the machine started working.

PROBLEM: Dryer making noise-FIX: Remove loose part. Wife knows the problem years ago that the dryer was making noise during process. She’s always in-charge of the laundry while I do the ironing. Yesterday, I had to dry my cycling clothes and heard the annoying noise.   There are 3 plastic pieces inside mounted in the cylindrical container to tumble/toss the clothes inside while the clothes are being dried.  I removed 1 of the plastic tumbler and machine runs like a brand new unit.

Passing of Goodness; Day432; El Elyon

And God said, I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim My name, THE LORD, before you; for I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy and loving-kindness on whom I will show mercy and loving-kindness. [Rom. 9:15, 16.] Exodus 33:19 He speaks, who heard the words of God and knew the knowledge of the Most High, who saw the vision of the Almighty, falling down, but having his eyes open and uncovered: Numbers 24:16

DREAM: I was in a park just relaxing when I saw a family arrived.  At first I did not recognize the family but as they came closer to me, I started recognizing each one of them. [child of Helen M]

El Elyon
You sit enthroned above the circle of the earth
Spreading out the heavens like a veil
You hold the universe so firmly in Your hand
Reaching out in love to all the world

El Elyon Most High God
Holy is Your Name

No one can know the secrets hidden in Your heart
Mysteries beyond the reach of man
No one else commands the sun to rise and then to fall
All creation heeds the great I AM

El Elyon Most High God
Holy is Your Name

Elohim El Shaddai
Yeshua Adonai
Let our glory of Your name be magnified
Lord Most High

Ask For Wisdom; Day430

If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him. James 1.5

Praise Report: Door opened up at Samsung Austin again to a very close friend who lost his job way back in October 2009. The recruiter called him and told him that he can have his job back but on a different department and same shift.  It was not a call for interview but a message telling him he already has the job and was given one day to think about it.  Not sure what is going on, never heard from the morning meeting regarding Samsung rehiring RIF [reduction in force] employees.  To my eyes, this is mercy – a gift and worth mentioning here.

God Most High; Day429

But as for me, I will look to the Lord and confident in Him I will keep watch; I will wait with hope and expectancy for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me. Micah 7:7

(Gen 14:18)  Melchizedek king of Salem [later called Jerusalem] brought out bread and wine [for their nourishment]; he was the priest of God Most High,
(Gen 14:19)  And he blessed him and said, Blessed (favored with blessings, made blissful, joyful) be Abram by God Most High, Possessor and Maker of heaven and earth,
(Gen 14:20)  And blessed, praised, and glorified be God Most High, Who has given your foes into your hand! And [Abram] gave him a tenth of all [he had taken]. [Heb. 7:1-10.]
(Gen 14:22)  But Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand and sworn to the Lord, God Most High, the Possessor and Maker of heaven and earth, (Psa 57:2)  I will cry to God Most High, Who performs on my behalf and rewards me [Who brings to pass His purposes for me and surely completes them]!

Anyone Overburdened?; Day422

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]  Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls. [Jer. 6:16.] For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good–not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne. Matthew 11.29-30

08 – Only by Grace
Only by grace can we enter
Only by grace can we stand
Not by our human endeavor
But by the blood of the lamb
Into your presence You call us
You call us to come
Into your presence You draw us
And now by your grace we come
Now by your grace we come

Lord if you mark our transgressions
Who will stand
Thanks to your grace
We are cleansed by the blood of the lamb, Precious Lamb
Lord if you mark our transgressions
Who will stand
Father thanks to your grace
We are cleansed by the blood of the lamb

Only by grace can we enter

Being Born Again; Day420

EVERYONE WHO believes (adheres to, trusts, and relies on the fact) that Jesus is the Christ (the Messiah) is a born-again child of God; and everyone who loves the Father also loves the one born of Him (His offspring).  1 John 5.1

Being born again in the simplest term-you believe that Jesus is the Christ.  Meaning-you adhere to His teachings, trust Him by faith and rely on Him no matter what and establishing a continuous relationship/connection with Him on a daily basis. It is not about attending church or being connected to a group of people or belonging to an organization or accomplishing something.  It is not by work/action or any effort that we do to fellow mankind that makes us a believer. It is what is in our heart and mind and soul that makes us being born into the Kingdom.  It is more than a mindset, it is a way of life.

We’re gonna lift our voice in victory

And now by Your grace we come
Now by Your grace we come

Thanks to Your grace we are cleansed

Trust, Delight and Commit; Day411

Trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) in the Lord and do good; so shall you dwell in the land and feed surely on His faithfulness, and truly you shall be fed. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.  Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass. And He will make your uprightness and right standing with God go forth as the light, and your justice and right as [the shining sun of] the noonday. Psalm 37:3-6

Song of the day – 09 – For the Lord Is Marching On
HM008-09ForTheLordisMarchingOn

For the Lord is marching on
And His army is ever strong
And His glory shall be seen upon our land
Raise the anthem, sing the victor’s song
Praise the Lord for the battle’s won
No weapon formed against us shall stand

Chorus
For the Captain of the host is Jesus
We’re following in His footsteps
No foe can stand against us in the fray (2x)

We are marching in Messiah’s band
The keys of vict’ry in His mighty hand
Let us march on to take our promised land
For the Lord is marching on
And His army is ever strong
And His glory shall be seen upon our land.

John Maxwell preached at Celebration today about “fueling our dreams”. I have not known him ever and I did not realize that he wrote so many inspirational books [a few bestsellers] on leadership.  It is good to know where he is getting his inspiration (from the Bible). Although in most of his books, he rarely mentioned scripture references, it is very clear that the subject he is referring to was a product from his devotion to the Lord. When you get a chance, please read some his books, highly recommended specially the “Put Your Dream To The Test”

10 Questions:
1. The Ownership Question: Is my dream really my dream?
2. The Clarity Question: Do I clearly see my dream?
3. The Reality Question: Am I depending on factors within my control to achieve my dream?
4. The Passion Question: Does my dream compel me to follow it?
5. The Pathway Question: Do I have a strategy to reach my dream?
6. The People Question: Have I included the people I need to realize my dream?
7. The Cost Question: Am I willing to pay the price for my dream?
8. The Tenacity Question: Am I moving closer to my dream?
9. The Fulfillment Question: Does working toward my dream bring satisfaction?
10. The Significance Question: Does my dream benefit others?

Paul Baloche and Jason Ingram

Where can I go
But to the cross to the cross
For there my shame
You have washed away
Where can I go
But to the cross to the cross
For there You gave
Up Your life for me
You gave Your life for me

You stretched Your arms out wide
I lift my hands up high to my Savior
You stretched Your arms out wide
I lift my hands up high to my Savior

So Lord I run
To the cross to the cross
Surrender all to my Savior King
Be my everything
Chains are broken
Shame has fallen
All my sins are gone

No Variation; Day392; Give Me Your Eyes

Every good gift and every perfect (free, large, full) gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of all [that gives] light, in [the shining of] Whom there can be no variation [rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [as in an eclipse].  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Fulfill+Hear; Day386; On Being Homeless; Type of Swimmers

He will fulfill the desires of those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him; He also will hear their cry and will save them.  Psalm 145:19

Fulfill-achieve something: to do what is necessary to bring about or achieve something expected, desired, or promised

Being Homeless:
”No one changes anything by playing it safe” The Soloist”

Last week I watched the movie “The Soloist” and my heart was touched.  I almost (just almost) cried during the entire movie and I did not understand why.  The next morning, I woke up with the idea of “The Homeless Mindset”.  What if I am homeless?  Will my life be simpler? Will my life be of less stress? Will my life be of less problems? Will my life be of less hurt/confrontation?  That day I began my day by thinking of being a homeless man and what I found out was interesting.

On being homeless…
1. I don’t have to get up and go to work, a homeless man don’t have a steady job.
2. I don’t have to my make my espresso latte, a homeless man don’t even have a running water.
3. I don’t have to take a shower, homeless man does it on rare occasion only
4. I don’t have to go to my computer and read my daily devotional, a homeless man don’t need it.
5. I don’t have open internet explorer to check my fb account for messages, a homeless don’t have an fb account.
6. I don’t have to open the garage and backup my car, the homeless man has only a “shopping cart” to worry about.
7. I don’t have to worry about crossing an intersection in the highway because a homeless man don’t even have a car.
8. I don’t have to check on my children if they are ready for school, a homeless man don’t have a family.
9. I don’t have badge in at work, a homeless man don’t have a job.
10. I don’t have to attend to morning meetings, a homeless man don’t even have a manager to report to.
11. I don’t have to ride an elevator to go to the 3rd floor, a homeless work is in the street.
12. I don’t have to eat lunch at a specific time, a homeless man don’t even have a food handy.
13. I don’t have to wait on traffic at I35, a homeless man does not use the interstate.
14. I don’t have to call my wife, a homeless man don’t have a wife.
15. I don’t have to call home and check what’s for dinner, a homeless man don’t have defined dinner menus.
16. I don’t have to check my bank account to see if there is any illegal activities, the homeless man has only coins in his pocket.
17. I don’t have to ask my kids “how’s school”, a homeless man has no children to attend to.
18. I don’t have exercise, a homeless man is just as healthy with his current living condition.
19. I don’t have to respond to email, a homeless man don’t even have an AC power to plug in his computer (if he has one)
20. I don’t have to answer a phone call, a homeless man don’t even have a friend that care.

I can add more here if I wanted to.  My point is, we have everything we need in life.  Those little problems we are experiencing is nothing compared to those who live on the street.  If you are reading this journal, you are probably inside a heated or an air conditioned building and enjoying whatever you are reading.  I don’t have huge problems in life anymore, I flushed those out in my mind (problem still there).  Even if they are big, I don’t consider them important and it does not bother me even in a tiny bit. But I have friends close to me that are facing enormous problems, hurt, financial disasters, relationship disasters, mental problems, lack of peace –  I want to encourage you, change the way you think.  Count your blessings, count the good things that you have, count the items in your life that has good value.  Once you have the list, start rebuilding your life using what you already have.  You are far greater equipped than the homeless man on the street.  Don’t play it safe, what if we cannot fail.  And by the way, who draw the line of success and failure in this world?  Success and failure – it does not matter, what matters most is how we enjoy the journey.  I’ve done some long journey/races in my life and what I treasured/remembered most was not the feeling at the starting line or at the finish line, but those that happened during the journey, the rest stops, the failures, the setbacks, the friendship, the tears, the agony, the pain, – those are far more remarkable than crossing the final mile at the end of the journey.

I learned about 4 types of swimmers today at the pool.  I was on Lane3, On lane4 was a guy who was a type3 and I was able to hang with his pace.  On Lane 1 and Lane 5 were guys who were type4.  They were swimming like a fish (smooth and fast).  But on lane2 was a guy who barely can swim.  He spent most of his time paddling and not going anywhere.  I like the type 2 guy because even if he was not moving any faster, he keeps trying across the 25 yard pool and did it several times with a few rest in between.   I probably did around 85 laps today but the type2 swimmer most likely accomplished so much than what I did.  He conquered the water.

Type of swimmers:
1. Those that always think that they want to try swimming
2. Those that tried to get in the water even though they don’t know how to swim
3. Those that can swim
4. Those that can swim very fast

How Long; Day382; Dream-Toothbrush and Bathroom

O you sons of men, how long will you turn my honor and glory into shame? How long will you love vanity and futility and seek after lies? Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself [and given distinction to] him who is godly [the man of loving-kindness]. The Lord listens and heeds when I call to Him. Psa 4:2-3

Dream1: Toothbrush
I was in a open building and there was a toothbrush laying around soaked in a cup of water. I took it and use it even after seeing particles inside the cup and I did not care of any consequences.

Dream2: Bathroom
I was in an overcrowded bathroom. The place was chaotic, dirty and people were loud, crazy and dirty.  People were changing clothes, washing their face and brushing their teeth.  I have to squeeze myself in to get to the sink which has a flowing water.

Fly-Run-Walk—>Forever; Day378

He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound]. [II Cor. 12:9.]  Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected] young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted; But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired. [Heb. 12:1-3.] Isa 40:29-31

Power to weak and not to the strong.  Power to the defeated and the lowly and not to those who are great and successful.  So encouraging that during the times of our weaknesses, we are given the strength to go on.  There is only one requirement- we have to wait.  Wait on His signal, wait on His commands and wait on His leadership.  Wait = praying, listening and more listening and listen without doing any drastic decision.  Let the whole situation boils down to a cooler mood, then you act.

I’ve been tasked lately to perform a data recovery on a dead hard drive and I failed.  Then I remember that I have one dead SCSI drive from one of my Dell server that will not spin and it gives out an error “drive timeout-waiting to initialized”.  I ran a Seagate diagnostic application and the software was unable to even recognize the drive.  I had this problem a year ago and I gave up on the drive but kept it in my office.  Part of my experimentation at home was to dissect/disassemble a broken part (anything usually that i want to open) and I remember that I have this dead SCSI drive just waiting to be thrown away.  So today, I decided to perform a surgery and see if I can learn something.  Miraculously, after I put back together all the parts and then ran the test, the drive started working.

Lesson Learned:
1. Dead drive does not mean that the drive is dead.
2. Try separating the controller from the mechanical part, it could just be a poor electrical contact
3. When buying drives, stick to one brand, one model so during recovery, you can just swap controllers.  (I think this is how the professionals do it, swapping controllers, mechanical parts and spindle)

Do Greater Things; Day376; Level 4 Living

I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father. John 14:12

I found a great message for 2010-Level 4 Living. Thanks to HelenjoyA, she was part of the incredible story on how I end up listening to Level4 Living message by Chuck Booher (he started a series on the topic back in the beginning of 2009 last year).  When you get a chance, download the audio to your mp3 player or listen it online.

Hidden Purpose; Day375-121121/4731; Crossroads

Take notice! I tell you a mystery (a secret truth, an event decreed by the hidden purpose or counsel of God). We shall not all fall asleep [in death], but we shall all be changed (transformed) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the [sound of the] last trumpet call. For a trumpet will sound, and the dead [in Christ] will be raised imperishable (free and immune from decay), and we shall be changed (transformed). For this perishable [part of us] must put on the imperishable [nature], and this mortal [part of us, this nature that is capable of dying] must put on immortality (freedom from death).  And when this perishable puts on the imperishable and this that was capable of dying puts on freedom from death, then shall be fulfilled the Scripture that says, Death is swallowed up (utterly vanquished forever) in and unto victory. [Isa. 25:8.] 1Co 15:51-54

Many of you are wondering about what those numbers are for. The first one is a countdown to the age that I need to surpass. Why? I don’t really know, it just popped in my head.  So on this day, I have 12 years 11 months and 21 days left (`4731 days).  Get it!  I am particular with days because something happened to me last year.  The 375 days count is the number of days after my heart attack.  I am not proud of that number because it does not really represents anything, it is just a number of days I survived.  Ever wondered what I was thinking last January 1, 2009, read my entry here.  That day, it was only my Day008 and there were so many questions in my mind at that time.  I did not even know if I am able to survive cardiac rehab.  Some questions I asked: Will I wake up again the next day? Will I be able to drive safely? Will I be able to work? Will I be able to swim, bike and run again?  Will I be able to live a normal life?  Will I be able to function again as a normal person?  Will my heart fully recover? So many questions flashed to my mind that day and I can’t even imagine how to survive the next day.  I don’t want to put more drama on this but I want you to realize that those events that happened to me were just tiny little crossroads that I have to endure – to bring a change into my life, to take me to another level in my faith and to send a message to those close to me that the events that they witnessed are the workings from Someone above us. Seek Him.

Recently, I had a short conversation with a close friend and he told me about his recent life changes (again).  There were so many “unfortunate events”/”undesirable effects” (UE) in his life and most of them were really out of the normal that most of us might not even experience in a lifetime. I know that I am more blessed than anyone else in the world, I am not bragging, I count my blessings even if it is an unfortunate event, I will still call it a blessing (therefore-more blessings). Unfortunate events are crossroads and it has to be handled carefully or else we will end up way off course in our life. I bike a lot and most of the time, I know all the routes even when I go out to those small county roads in Georgetown, Texas with no road signs because I’ve been there already plus I know the general location/markers of the county and if I ever get lost, I will just have to rely on my land navigation skills using the position of the sun and the wind and I am pretty sure I can get back to my home within hours.  But how do I handle crossroads in my life.  How can I tell that my decision is the right one for me?  How can I discern if the person I am relating to or doing business with is genuine?  How can I know that when I dive into something, the result will be to my favor.

Here’s my measuring cup when dealing with crossroads. (Phil 4.8) (Then Phil 4.9)
1. Is it true?
2. Is it noble?
3. Is it just?
4. Is it pure?
5. Is it lovely?
6. Is it of good report?
7. Is it of virtue?
8. Is it praiseworthy?
Then the promise: “The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you”. Phil 4.9

> Normal Service; Day374

O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? Now sin is the sting of death, and sin exercises its power [upon the soul] through [the abuse of] the Law. But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory [making us conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be firm (steadfast), immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord [always being superior, excelling, doing more than enough in the service of the Lord], knowing and being continually aware that your labor in the Lord is not futile [it is never wasted or to no purpose].  1Corinthians 15:55-58

Faith has been the hardest thing to understand. The more you do good things, the more you are drawn to go in the opposite direction.  The more you say “I promise not to do it again”, the more tendency we are to do the exact opposite and that is why I think New Years Resolution fails.  We tried so hard to do the right thing and always end up doing the negative thing.  So how are we suppose to handle things in life if rules and strict regulations are not the real answer? The answer-don’t rely on the rules (the law), but instead abide to what has been established-“the work of the Lord”.  If it pleases and glorify God, then do it.  Measure up on this question and the rules don’t apply because we are not anymore under law but under grace.  It is hard to understand the true meaning of “working for/with God” because we know He did it already at the cross but through the mindset of always associating the very tiny details of our lives for His work, I believe that even the smallest and simplest positive thing we do for mankind is considered a greater than normal service to humanity. Don’t start a New Year’s resolution in 2010 but instead do everything that you think is good, there are so many.

To all my virtual friends and strangers. Let’s start the new decade and the new year in a positive way.  Happy New Year!

Tuned In Correctly; Day373

The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never lose it or perish throughout the ages. [To all eternity they shall never by any means be destroyed.] And no one is able to snatch them out of My hand.  John 10:27-28

True fellowship – we not just hear but listen and not just listen but follow.  The last portion is the hardest.

When On Trials; Day372; .Net2.0 Revisited

BUT NOW [in spite of past judgments for Israel’s sins], thus says the Lord, He Who created you, O Jacob, and He Who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you [ransomed you by paying a price instead of leaving you captives]; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you. Isaiah 43.1-2

My Virtual Pantalan
image
Date:20091227
Location: San Gabriel River near Hwy 29
My virtual pantalan in Texas. When I was growing up in Merida (a small town in Leyte, Philippines) the pantalan [A Pier] was my regular place of solitude. Almost every morning, I ride my bike there just to see the sunrise and listen to the sound of the waves. The place is so peaceful in the morning and not too many people goes there for meditation. I was looking for a place like that here in Texas and I think I accidentally stumbled one. This is the place! Although it is 15 miles from home, I managed to make this place as a regular retreat every week. (Bike with me and you can feel how enjoyable a simple place like this can be.) I think people don’t need to travel far, there is always a special place somewhere undiscovered with hidden beauty.

I underestimated my new project of 3 water bottles per day of H2O.  When the clock was 2200h last night, I was still at the beginning of bottle#3. I have two hours to consume the 27oz of water and I was planning to go to bed by midnight or 1am.  Well, I have to force myself to do it because I told myself that I have to do it.  It’s going to be a long year of drinking water.  Long distance swim yesterday was fine (the usual 2.4) with the same pace, the same crowd, the same lifeguard, same chlorine smell. I felt that I needed to change my swimming training, it’s been boring nowadays doing the long distance swim.  My body already adapted to the training and I needed to change something (I don’t know yet).  I stopped because I reached my distance goal but I still had a lot of energy left in me.  Heart rate probably was on the 100’s (very low, not strenuous).

I accomplished a few things yesterday as I indicated in my MIT. I went to MB of Georgetown to get my wife’s low beam bulb fixed.  Spent around 1 hour to change 2 defective bulbs. It was still under warranty and cost was zero.  I’ve already googled on how to DIY the repair, I just needed to use up my warranty.

It’s been a while since I worked on ASP.net 2.0.  When Sharepoint 3.0 came out, I shifted all my DB programming to Sharepoint because it is so easy to deploy a simple data entry and queries.  Then as months goes by, I realized that Sharepoint has limitations regarding data access and it could not perform what I wanted to do with a certain data.  So then I dug up my notes and old projects and still found some useful templates in them.  I thought I have to start from ground zero but when I started playing with Visual Web Developer 2008, the projects that I build on .Net 2.0 was still working.  I am working on Windows 2008 environment and IIS7 was giving me a hard time.  Microsoft really changed the UI for IIS7 and I have to relearn where a certain features resides.

I am not a true .Net programmer, my background is more on hardware and electronics but I found Visual programming interesting and doable and easy to learn and that is why I am on this journey.  This is not my full time job but going through the motions with the project creates a more complex journey of learning (love the challenge) and later great results that might help somebody out there.  So if you are in the same journey, don’t hesitate to contact me. This is not a HOWTO document to show you step by step on how to deploy the project but rather a roadmap on how to start a project and finish it.  I have no other objectives but to learn. Join me as I took a dive into an unknown territories of web database development.  I think it will be fun.  If you already are a seasoned .Net programmer, help me out. Maybe we can join hands in tackling a project.  Please let me know if you are interested so that I can give you an account to my web server and you can start develop a project remotely anywhere in the world.

Be Still; Day371; 3 Water Bottles Per Day

Let be and be still, and know (recognize and understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth!  Psalm 46.10

I started a new experiment yesterday – drink 2 liters of water everyday (the rest of my life)., I calculated my daily water requirement and I need to drink 2 liters of water every day.  This is going to be an add-on to my ongoing experiment with Bagel breakfast and Clif Bar lunch +Latte.  So far I never failed on those two ongoing experiments for 9 months now. Swim Bike and Run experiments will continue in parallel with the rest of experiments that I mentioned.  I will be living in a virtual cave so if you need me, please just email or text.  Don’t be alarmed that I will be quite sometimes, if I am still updating my journal then that will tell you that my brain and fingers are still coordinated.

But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, To show that you are the children of your Father Who is in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the wicked and on the good, and makes the rain fall upon the upright and the wrongdoers [alike]. Matthew 5: 44-45

Wonderful Counselor; Day369

For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace.  Isa 9:6

We celebrate Christmas every year but often times we miss the true meaning of His birth.  The true meaning of His birth lies not in the beginning of His life but in the outcome of what He did for us.  Christmas was just the first step of His grandiose plan. Keep searching.
